Why are comfortable shoes so ugly??

I need help!

We are going to Rome at the end of June and I'm in need of some comfy shoes for LOTS of walking.

Don't know why I thought my cute ballet flats would cut it... but after 3 hours on a field trip to the San Diego Zoo yesterday, my feet were done!

Anyhoo - I need some nice-looking comfy shoes for Rome!

Something that goes with jeans/white pants, capris, dresses/skirts (can be 2 different pairs or whatever.)

I was thinking of these or these birkenstocks in white or black or brown, not sure??: (I've never owned a pair though, are they comfy?)



or

(come in non-patent too)



Do you think those would work? Anyone have any other ideas for me?

my bff has the second pair and swears by them. she wore them all over europe.

I swear by Dr. Scholls. Stylish (not oo-la-la but nice) and super-comfy. I can walk for miles in my sandals!!

I was thinking that very same thing this morning as i tried to squish my fat foot into a pair of meat slicers, er, i mean sandals.
When in doubt i opt for flip flops or uggs, although i would check out naturalizer.

I wore sketchers on my HM to Italy. They have some cute sandals out now.

Check out Born sandals too. I have Born boots and find them very comfortable. MIL wears the sandals all the time (don't worry, she's hip and fashionable). I am thinking about a pair of sandals for the summer.

DH loves Mephisto. He got frustrated with buying 2-3 pairs of flip flops each summer and he splurged on a pair of Mephisto last year. He swears he'll never buy another brand again.

I would not recommend flips for a trip...I did just get the 2nd pair of Birks with the strap on the back and I love them.
They are so comfy and look great too.

i love the 2nd pair, but you might also want to get a pair of cute sneakers, like skechers, if you are going to be doing a lot of walking.

when i was in italy, a lot of people had on the 2nd pair that you posted but with a back.....i personally wore sneakers the majority of the time b/c we walked sooooo much!

I'm going to Italy in August and i've been warned about the walking and to wear sneakers. i plan on bringing sneakers, though i have a pair of birks that i'll bring too, but with backs. i only feel comfortable with backs. i would definitely bring sneakers though!!

Birks are really comfy but you have to break them in!

Born sandals are VERY comfy and they really aren't so bad looking either.

I like the first pair..I'm not a fan of the second pair...too Roman/Gladiator to me lol You may want a pair with backs though for long walking trips.

try easy spirit..and i have a pair of skechers sightsee mary jane sneaks..in white. i bought them in 2005 when i went to europe..very comfy!! goes with almost anything.

i bought another pair this week b/c i loved them so much but had to toss them on my cruise to hawaii.

I bought these for my trip to Italy and they were GREAT.

not sure if you like the style, but i thought they were pretty cute too. but they are definitely comfy. and I walked A LOT!!!!
