Why are some people so insensitive?
I really think people should think before they speak. I told my office today about the baby and everyone had very nice things to say and offered their congratulations. All with the exception of one person. This woman, who is a bitter divorcee with no children, told everyone "I thought something was going on because her stomach looks huge". Excuse me??? I told her it wasn't a very nice thing to say but I understand where it's coming from. What is wrong with some people? I've only put on 2 lbs and while I do have a tiny belly, I'm by no means huge. Some people are just stuck on stupid.
Vent over.

Theresa, that isn't insensitivity, that is jealousy. Some people just cannot be happy for others unless they too are happy. I would stay clear of this person if you can. Negative energy isnt good and you deserve better!

Thank you everyone. I think I let it bother me so much because I don't understand that kind of comment being made. I guess it is jealousy on her part. Thanks for being so supportive ladies.

I would just respond with - YUP - and get used to it, cuz I'm only gonna get bigger! SEE - Thats what happens when you are pregnant!
Whether its jealousy or stupidity or god knows what, I would call her on it....

Yup...sounds like jealousy to me too...not that it justifies her behavior. But know that you look beautiful and obviously your glow and great news is too much happiness for the grouch to take.

How rude. It does not always help but when something like that happens to me, I just remind myself that there were however many people who were so happy for me and just one moron.
And whatever happens with my TTC efforts, I never want to be like that bitter lady in your office.

I think its more bitter. she is older and who knows if she tried and couldnt get pg. so she is showing she cant be happy for someone else. Just ignore, dont let her negativity bring you down.
