Why do people ....
Always have a comment when i go out with my almost 4yo and the twins....This morning i ran to the store since DD was going to be home all day becasue of the ice and it had not sxtarted yet.. i had the boys in the snap n go and DD in a cart with all the stuff...Every person I passed made a comment on how do you do it??? I would not be able to get out of the house?? I am out of the house everyday at 8:30 to get DD to school . And why do people have to Ask
Do you have help?
Are they Fraternal?
Are they Boy/Girl?
Are they twins??????
and they always end their conversation with g-od bless...
sorry just had to vent!!!!

As far as the God Bless comment I ALWAYS say...
"Thanks. He/She already has... TWICE "
And my FIL is the worst offender with stopping twin mommies in the mall etc. I always tell him, "Don't ask the following questions... and don't keep talking to them... they have no time!"

Can agree with you totally.. Annoying is not the word.. I have not given birth to my twins yet and when they ask what I'm having It's always great to see there expression when i say twins... and then of course comes you will be so tired , you will ge no sleep.. your life will end.... I just laugh and say its all worth it and I would not change a thing.

I know...when people say "Twins?" I say no, Triplets, but I left one at home!? or I say, "No, they were born very close together!" That one really throws them off and the looks I get are priceless!

Since I am on this board asking a question, I know i am always guilty of asking if babies are "twins." Sorry about that - I never ask if they have help - thats a dumb question, but I know I always say something like, "wow- god bless you" type of stuff...
Its meant with the best of intentions - I swear - please forgive us ignorant singleton moms

It's often said with the tone of... "Wow, glad it's not me".
I even overheard a man at a street festival say that as our stroller went by (now granted he had two young kids with him) so I politely said, "Actually, I'm glad it is us. Thanks and the funnel cakes are awesome"
There are people who are genuinely sincere and mean well. It's all in how it's said.

WOW, I didnt know people felt that way and I have two friends with twins, one on the way and twin nephews.
I always say things like "Wow god bless you" when I see twin mamas out and about b/c one is overwhelming to me, I think it takes a lot to handle too and want to wish them well.
I never thought of it as negative...glad I read this.

The one that my DH has been getting lately when they find out we are having twin girls is "oh are you ok with that" It just annoys us to no end!!!

I'm guilty of saying something when I see a twin Mommy/Daddy. As much as it can annoy me when I'm out with them. I always said if you hate talking to people never go to the stores with your twins.

The one I get almost every time we go out (got this comment AGAIN today) is "they aren't twins are they?". They are the exact same height, weight, etc. I always say yes, who do you think could be at least 9 months older?

Never bothered me, but I will admit... you sometimes get some crazy ones.
I think twins are such an amazing blessing and curiostiy to so many people and that is why they ask. I think my boys are very lucky to be twins and I want them to know that throughout life. so while sometimes it can be intrusive....it does not bother me.
What does bother me is people who feel they can touch my children. You would be amazed how I have almost had to elbow people to keep them away from my kids. I find that ridiculous.

THe comments used to get to me but I know that *most* people say things out of respect and usually want to relay their good wishes so I just thank them and carry on.
The other day, however, I was checking out at a store and my guys were getting antsy. The cashier must have been pregnant and her friend at the next register said, "You know what I"m thinking....there better not be two in there." Oh, how subtle you were. I hardly had a clue you were referring to my children frightening you.
And to all the pregnant twin mamas... the comments about your life ending, hoping you have help, getting no sleep - unless they've had twins they haven't a clue. It's the best job in the world and all the work is well worth it

In general most comments never bothered me...Im sure I had my days when I got irritated though.
The one that always got me was "are they identical?" They look exactly alike...what do you think????

Hi, I'm just lurking, I babysit 3 month old twin girls. I'm usually over on the TTC board.
When I was pregnant with DD I was big and everytime I went out anywhere someone had to ask if I was having twins or triplets... and I was only 6 or 7 months along
I vowed never to make a comment to a pregnant woman after what people said to me, so I know where you ladies are coming from. I was even asked if "the baby is hungry" 8 month after having DD.
I know I don't have my own twins but watching them all day I get a peek into your lives and some days it's exhausting, but those babies are wonderful and I kind of hope I get my own set some day!

I don't care what people say about twinsI have gotten them all too but I dk it doesn't bother me, if anything I just say what I always say--you do not get more then you can handle/
When I got prego I had rude people asking me if it was a accident because my kids were far apart--now that bothered me...

People feel like they need to say something.
Then one day I saw a mom with triplets and all these things almost came out to say to her and I realized she proably gets it even more then me, so I kept quiet, I smiled and that was it.

My twin has blond hair & blue eyes. I have brown hair & hazel eyes. Without fail when it was discovered we were twins, we were always asked "Are you identical?" I always responded with a smile and "You don't know what identical means, do you?"
Oh & then there was the one guy that didn't ask if we were identical. His response was "I never had twins before!" Um...yeah..that's just the way I want to spend my time...naked in bed with my sister.
I don't think it's wrong to ask questions (well except the above guy's questions). I think stopping them to ask questions is more of the problem.
