why do people feel the need to comment?!
so, heres our story: i have a disorder called turners syndrome. basically, i'm missing one of the "x" chromosomes that females should have, so my ovaries aren't developed and i don't produce eggs. Even IVF isn't an option because of health risks... i've know this pretty much my whole life, and have always wanted to adopt. DH is also on board with the adoption idea, too.
the problem is, now that we've been married for 3 years, random people are starting to comment that its time to have a baby  we go to the same dentist, i just went today and was telling her that we're going to hawaii for vacation this summer and she was like " have fun! maybe you'll come back with a baby..." people just don't get that its not that simple for everybody. its just really annoying!!!

ugh. People don't know what to do when exposed to someone whose life doesn't follow they typical path.
Switch to my dentist. When I told her what meds I take, she and I had a whole conversation about PCOS!

People don't realize that questions like "When are you getting marreid" or "When are you having children" are TOTALLY invasive and inappropriate.

I cannot understand how people can do this. I have experienced it so many times. It is rude and ignorant of someone to do this. I totally understand.

I totally agree with you about people needing to make RUDE comments! At work yesterday one of my co-workers asked if I was "trying" yet since I have been married for almost 2 years. I felt like kicking her as I smiled and politely changed the subject. Don't people know NOT to ask such questions!!

I'm sorry you are going through this. I get those comments too. Our landlady says, "why should you have a baby", you both really can't afford it. I said to her "excuse me, yes we can". I dont' speak w/her anymore. I felt like saying, you don't know our financial situation and mind your own f'in business.

This is the best response!! Thats what I am definately doing from now on.. Smile and change the subject!!! If they dont get the hint by that then they are complete morons!!

I know most people are just making conversation, but for me, even before I knew we were going to have to deal with this BS, and before I was even married, I never asked people if they had kids or if they planned on it. You never know someone's situation and it's really none of your business anyway.
I had a woman at my father's surprise party in January corner me, literally..I could not get past her. She started asking me when we were going to have a baby. I just shrugged and tried to get away, she then got really snippy and said "I asked you a question, now answer" It was at that point, I did something I only ever fantised about and said to her "do you really want to know? The truth is, we've been trying for over a year and a half" She then had the nerve to ask me if we were doing all we possibly could to get pregnant, and I should just take vitamins and it would happen. I have never wanted to belt someone so much in my life.
