Why do people say such horrible things?
I want to understand why people say some of the things they do.
I was told this weekend that it is better to have no children at all then to have just one ( having an only child)
And that it is horrible, mean, cruel, and basically the worst thing in the entire world to have an only child

Of all the ignoramus statements I have heard lately, this one takes the cake. The only good part is that it makes it so blatantly obvious that the speaker is a moron, and anyone within earshot will realize it.

I completely agree with this! You could've just said "What the h@ll is THAT supposed to mean???"
Isn't it too bad that when people say such rude things that we are so flabbergasted that we can't even think of an appropriate response? I get so mad at myself because I always think of things about an hour later -- I guess when the horror and anger has worn off a bit.

Wow. That is really messed up. I am sorry someone said that to you I would be ******. If we never have another child I would not for a second think it's cruel or better to have none. What an asinine thing to say.
