Why do people wear sunglasses while riding the subway?

I just don't get it.

I hate it when people wear sunglasses inside in general.

Maybe some people have prescriptions??? I know I had 2 pairs of glasses and it was a pain to keep changing. Now I have the transitions.

They think that they are too cool.
or
They are too lazy/won't be underground for long so they don't bother to remove them.
or
Their eyes are bloodshot (for assorted reasons).
or
They are prescription - and still don't feel like taking them off.

I've fallen into the lazy category myself.

and so they dont have to worry about the no eye contact thing

i hate not making eye contact with people so my big sunglasses protect me and i can stare at an creature i want!

I do in the morning b/c I don't put do my make-up until I get to work (I like to wash the commute off my face before make-up). So, I don't want to scare anyone!

Yea, if I didn't do my makeup, or if I have a migraine, I keep them on. If not, I don't wear them inside. Now at a club, that is ridiculous. I've seen people (usually guys) out at clubs or bars & I'm like w t f ?? How do they even see?

I have extremly light sensitive eyes and sometimes its so bad just walking outside is too much for me. 's)when you have someplace you HAVE to be, you work around it. I wear sunglasses pretty much all day if I am out. Even when I am inside (if it's in a place that has window). My eyes are so sensitive that we had to put bags over all of my bedroom windows so that I could stay in my own room without having to wear the shades.
You never know what is going on with people, don't jump the gun thinking they just want to be cool.

I have prescription sunglasses so a lot of times I will get out of the car and forget I even have them on...

I think it's a way of telling other people "Don't look at me; I won't look at you...it's too early." I used to wear mine on the train in the morning if I felt really tired and it was too bright out.

lots of reasons. I know someone that wears them because he has a lazy eye and is self conscious about it. I also happen to think he's an azzhole.

I wear them because my eyes are very light sensitive but I try to remember to take them off.
