WHY does every woman that's ever given birth want to know how you plan on feeding your baby?
It doesn't matter if they themselves BF or FF... they just NEED to know what you're doing.
It doesn't matter that you've only been pregnant for 30 seconds.. they automatically think you've made this decision and need their input.
Even the most socially graceful women seem to fall into this trap.. all manners go out the window and they have no problem asking this very personal question!
Anyone with me?

I found that when I first got PG..EVERYONE and there other was like are you BFing?
Wait until you register and ppl are asking at your baby shower, bc I didn't put anything on there bc I want to make sure BFing is for me before I get all the stuff.

I am still getting this and it is my 2nd. I am exclusively FF this time and refuse to let someone else PRESSURE me like they did last time. I EBF'd my DS for 9 weeks because everyone in the world wanted me too. Do what you are comfortable with just say that when the time comes you'll decide.

Re: WHY does every woman that's ever given birth want to know how you plan on feeding your baby?
I got asked with my first pregnancy and I have been asked with this one. I don't really think it's a big deal.... To me it's not such a private thing. It's a personal decision but it's not something "private". I have asked friends what they plan to do - only because I found it to be one of the hardest things I have ever done, so I want to let them know I would be there if they needed any help or advice. I think it's a little odd for a stranger or someone not close to you to care what you are doing, but I don't think it's such an invasion of privacy to ask the question. At the same time, I also don't think anyone should lecture you if you decide not to BF or say anything that would try to make you feel guilty.
What I found to be RUDE was everyone and their brother asking me how much weight I gained! Now to me - that is something i might want to keep private!!!

Re: WHY does every woman that's ever given birth want to know how you plan on feeding your baby?
Because if they did it, they want to pressure you into BFing.
if they couldn't do it, they want to make sure you know that you are going to fail too.

Well put.
We should all make a pact that we'll never do this to future preggos!

Re: WHY does every woman that's ever given birth want to know how you plan on feeding your baby?
It is so annoying. And wait until the baby is born - it doesnt end. If you ARE BF'ing, people think its their business to ask all types of questions about your boobs.

Because people love to stick their nose where it doesn't belong.
I swear I have gotten every question under the sun- short of- What position were you in when you conceived?
But I'm waiting for that one... I'm sure it will come up at SOME point from SOMEONE!

Re: WHY does every woman that's ever given birth want to know how you plan on feeding your baby?
I've only had 2 people ask me this, over my 2 pregnancies. 1 was MIL's friend-at my shower-weird and the other was a friend of a friend's husband. The husband asking was kind of weird, but given his background (a nurse) and the fact that his wife and he are very pro-BF (she still BF's their 3yo DD) I did not get offended. But I have a feeling if I told him-no I will not BF, I would have gotten a lecture. Even when I told him I BF DD until she was 11 months he was kind of like"Oh well that is good I guess" Um hello-11 months??? I am proud of myself for that
I would never ask it, b/c I know it is a personal question. I don't mind if a new mom or pregnant mom asks, I had a good experience and don't mind sharing if I can help them with advice.
