Why does it bother people...
When strangers make comments?
I am that stranger that talks to everyone in stores, I am the one who comments on everything.
I enjoy connecting with people, no matter what way, they might walk away and say "what an a-hole" But I like talking to people. I don't understand why it seems to bother some people so much.
Discuss, and then hope you don't run into me in a store.

Re: Why does it bother people...
I am also that stranger who talks to everyone and anyone- and if I feel I have a valuable piece of advice, I give it.
There is a way to say things, and there are some things that are to be left unsaid.
I believe some people over step their boundaries, and dont know how to keep their mouth shut!
Those are the people that bother me!

Re: Why does it bother people...
It doesn't bother me when people make comments, but it bothers me when I feel people are talking down to me, or telling me what to do if I haven't asked them to.
I think I am over-sensitive about it though because I've always looked young, so I find people talk down to me a lot, thinking I'm young and stupid. I'll be 32 in November and the other day, I was mistaken TWICE for a high school student!
But I love when strangers make comments about how cute my daughter is! I'll have a whole conversation with someone who is being nice!

Re: Why does it bother people...
I don't let it bother me most days.
It honestly depends upon the comment and the intentions behind it. Most people mean well when they offer unsolicited advice. Of course, with a big "Mack truck" double snap and go I am most appreciative when people hold doors open for me
But yes, some comments just highlight the ignornace of some people. As a MOM (mom of multiples) we get more than the average mom. My favorite is... are your boy/girl twins "identical" or "fraternal". Let's see... how can they be identical if one is a boy and one is a girl? One woman wouldn't let up one day so I finally said... "No, I'm sure... only my son has a p e n i s"

Re: Why does it bother people...
For me it depends on the comment. For the most part I don't mind, but it really upsets me when people are rude or judgmental about my kids. I've posted before how upset I was when a woman approached me at the post office when Sarah was an infant and gave me a huge lecture about how she was going to be stupid b/c I didn't breastfeed. Meanwhile I really wanted to BF, but I never produced a drop of milk.
And I've posted pics of Andy's severe skin issues on his face. I don't mind explaining to people what it is when they ask, but I've had people tell me to stop washing his face with paper towels and ask if he falls on concrete a lot. And a lot of "OH MY GOD, WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM??" and then other people turn around and I find it very embarassing. Plus I don't want Sarah to pick up on it and think there is something wrong with him, you know?

I love talking to strangers (mom would be horrified!!)- but I HATE unsolicited advice in regards to child-rearing.

I am EXACTLY like you. I talk to everyone! Not only that, I offer my card to any mom and say they can give me a call if they ever have a question or need to talk
Once in BBB I saw this woman looking very confused at breast pumps. I walked over to her, pointed out the Medela Pump In Style and told her that if she was going to be pumping regularly, as a mom who pumped daily from DD being 3 months until 1 year, this is the one I recommend. We ended up talking for 30 minutes Even her husband was asking me questions about pumping

Re: Why does it bother people...
I am the same way! It takes a LOT to offend or bother me. I don't care if strangers say something. I also have a tendency of just saying things off the top of my head without thinking, and strangers are probably like . But I don't care. They're strange. That's why they are the strangers.

Re: Why does it bother people...
I don't mind strangers talking to me. But I would find it annoying if someone told me that my kid was hungry because he cries and they have NO CLUE what they are talking about (like in the other post).

Re: Why does it bother people...
I dont mind strange people talking to me most of the time I conversate back. I acutally enjoy hearing other peoples point of views or tid-bits!
Now if the person is rude that is a whole other story since I have a really hard time biting my tongue and I am very quick to tell them to f-off!

Re: Why does it bother people...
It doesn't bother me when strangers talk to me/Jared. I guess it just depends on my mood. Like the other day, a lady was taking all the things out of her basket and was saying their names in a sing-song voice to Jared. I know she was entertaining him but I was in no mood for her cuteness.
