Why does my RE space out the betas so far apart?

I'm so anxious, I can barely rest! My first Beta was last Monday and my second one is this coming Monday...... and the third w/ultrasound is a week after that! This is killing me... I can hardly wait!

Why do you think they do this?

many doctors do betas every 48 hours. but sometimes there is some fluctuation even though the pregnancy is normal. so if you look once a week you probably are just looking for a giant increase, instead of the doubling every 48 hours exactly. it probably gives a better read to go 6 days apart then to go 2 days apart and have to go a bunch of times. esp. cause if the number isn't at a certain level by 5w that usually means its not viable. IMO i liked having betas close together even though it was nervewracking. but i can def see why some doctors would choose to space them out more. good luck

At NOrth Shore they do the first beta later than most other REs. By the time you had your first beta Many other REs would have tested 2 times already. I know it is hard but have faith in them. In some ways it was easier for me to wait so long for the betas b/c waiting for betas to double every 48 is very anxiety provoking. Good luck!!!
