Why Even Bother Going To The Doctor -- PART 2

Doctor: You're still pregnant? I thought you would have given birth by now.

Me: Nope, still here.

Doctor: So, what's new.

Me: Nothing. Still in pain and very uncomfortable.

Doctor: OK, let's see the little guy.

*I wobble over and he helps me onto the bed thingy*

Doctor: WOW, he really is big. almost 8 lbs. Fluid is nice. He's nice and low. You don't have to wait for him to get any bigger you know.

Me: Trust me, I don't want to wait either.

Doctor: OK, see you next week if not before then. Try to convince him to get out of there before he gets too big.

He didn't even do an internal. I'm 38 weeks.

Yes, he would have known. It was his way of trying to be funny. I wasn't having it.

Why would he do an internal??
I didn't have one internal throughout my whole pregnancy, the only internal procedure I had was a membrane strip...and that didn't bloody well work!

Well, he did one two weeks ago and I've heard that most people get them weekly at this stage.

BUT, the more I thought about it, I was glad that I didn't have to go through the whole process of taking my pants off and putting them back on again Chat Icon

I know!Chat Icon

and, to add insult to injury...I went to get a sandwich after the appointment and the cashier took me from the middle of the line and said "let's get you out of here as soon as possible" and let me skip the line! Now, skipping the line was fine with me but W T F, is his head popping out for all to see? Why do people keep acting like I'm in active labor right in front of them?

I didn't get one until 39 weeks (I think), I think they say less is better - less of a chance for infection
