Why is my 2 year old suddenly up during the night?!
I recently posted we transitioned Tommy to a toddler bed a few weeks ago. He would NOT stay in so he's back in the crib with the tall side facing front. He's always slept thru the night 8pm-7am since he was an infant. All of a sudden, he's scared for me to leave the room, and gas been waking up during the night, and around 4-5am every morning. I work FT so I need to fix this. I put a night light in there, we have our routine, I stay in there til he's asleep ( I tried leaving and letting him CIO, he got so worked up he puked). So I stay and then sneak out. When he wakes up he screams bloody murder. I'm wondering if he's having bad dreams? Please help me fix this!! I need sleep to function. I hate to see him so scared. TIA.

My 16 mth old is doing this also. It's horrible. She's getting up around midnight -3:30 then up at 6:30 again. I have nothing but hugs for you. I think it separation anxiety. Waking up to us not being there. Could be bad dreams. And I know she's teething. Poor babies. Last night I let her CIO b/c she wasn't screaming to bad.

This is what I thought too bc it is exactly what we are going through. We are going on weeks of horrible bedtimes (screams as soon as he is put in the bed) and multiple wake-ups at night. DS turned 2 on Monday. He is definitely teething - his hands are in his mouth and he's drooling.
Last night we were ready to CIO after never doing it before. I agve him Motrin 30 minutes before bedtime (i usually give it 5-10 minutes before) and as a last ditch effort, put in a pillow for the 1st time. Well, there was NO crying!! For the 1st time in weeks he fell asleep on his own in his crib in about 2 minutes flat! He laid on the pillow slightly elevated and that plus Motrin did the trick. He did wake once at 3:30 AM - 8 hourse had passed since Motrin so I think it was teething again.
Nap times have been hard. He's sleeping sitting up and his head bobs. This is teething related I think too. 3 days of this.

Re: Why is my 2 year old suddenly up during the night?!
Ann had a few weeks stretch where she woke up calling for me every morning at 2AM.
It was not fun I'd have to sit on her floor rubbing her back until she fell back to sleep.
