Wii/PS3/X-Box 360

Joe has been hinting he wants to get a new game system from Santa. I know it's way early, but I need to start saving. What do you girls/guys recommend???? I'm thinking Wii only because I ♥ Mario games...

Re: Wii/PS3/X-Box 360

we have all 3 and here are my thoughts:'

Wii - LOVE it because of the mario games! i love mario party 8!! however, other than playing mario games we dont really use it.

Xbox 360 - DH loves it! he loves the graphics, the fact that you can get online and play with other people, and he also saves his music to it.

PS3 - we dont play games on it. we got it really because its a blueray player and it would be nice to have in case any good games came out for PS that DH would want.

so if the system is for your DH, i would say to get him Xbox 360. thats the one my DH seems to like the best overall. but im sure as a man, he would happy to have any of them!Chat Icon

Re: Wii/PS3/X-Box 360

We have all 3.

Wii - I play that the most. DH only plays it when I make him or when we have company over.

360 - DH plays it ALL the time, in fact he's having his daily fix right now. It plays very well online.

PS3 - We only got it for the Blue Ray. He only plays NBA 2K8 on it. The graphics are cool but he liked the 360 vesion better.

I say 360 if he wants it for games.

Re: Wii/PS3/X-Box 360

Nintendo Wii -
Wii sports is fun, and the Mario or Nintendo exclusive games are also fun. However, it's best as a party console, while the remote scheme is annoying for sports games/fighting games/action games. (Note: You can download classic Nintendo and Super Nintendo games via Virtual Console. There's some good stuff there)

Playstation 3 -
Honestly, this just doesn't have any worthwhile games, or enough to merit a purchase as a game console. It is a very good Blu-ray player though, but that shouldn't be the reason. Also, since they stripped out some hardware to make it cheaper,it can't play as many Playstation 2 games anymore. Also, you need an HDTV to make use of its best features.

Xbox360 -
This is probably the best investment. It has a solid selection of games, good online stuff, and cheap downloadable content. The only concern here is the Xbox360 is notorious for having a very high hardware failure rate (i.e., the Red Ring of Death), which studies claim to be 16-25% defect rate. A warranty minimizes the cost if that happens, but you still have to wait 2 weeks to repair it.

Overall, the Xbox360 is still the best choice despite its issues. The Wii would be a secondary option, with the PS3 being a third option unless you really want a Blu-Ray player.

Re: Wii/PS3/X-Box 360

what type of games does Joe like?
Do you own flat screen tv?
Does graphics makes a difference...

you really need to feel him out as there are differences in systems...

I own all 3 and all 3 are different.

Has he owned anything in the past?

Re: Wii/PS3/X-Box 360

I have Wii and love it. We chose it because we have kids and it had the most 'kid friendly' games. I also love that my son becomes 'part of the action' when he plays.

I love it too. It's fun stuff!

We have a PS2 right now and Joe loves Guitar Hero 3, war games, spongebob and so on. He wanted Wii because he wants to sword fight
Chat Icon . He like interactive games.

We do not have a flat screen and the new system will be hooked up to a 27inch tv for now. It's not the best but atleast it's a tv in the "mansment"

Graphics are important, but not an end all be all. I think game variety and interactive games are the key.

Any suggestions???

If he likes Guitar Hero and is thinking of getting Rock Band, avoid the Wii. The Wii version of Rock Band when it comes out will not have any online options.

PS3 version is good, Xbox360 version is better.
