Will DH be staying at the hospital with you if you already have a DC?
DH stayed in the hospital with me when we had DS#1. I'm not sure if we are going to do this with DS#2 and leave DS#1 with grandparents. Thoughts?

No, but then again, the only time he stayed with me at the hospital was when I was being induced. He went home the other nights.
This time around he will stay if I have to be induced again, and someone will stay home with DD. But he will go home and sleep there after. No need for both of us to be uncomfortable sleeping at the hosptial.

DH didn't stay with me the first time, he was more comfortable at home, plus it let me relax and sleep on my own.
DS will be with my parents during the day, but then DH will get him at night.

DH only stayed with me during my induction and c/section. Once I had the baby I sent him home at night to sleep.
This time he will obviously be there for the c/s but then go home at night to be with DD.

You girls are brave!! DH stayed the whole time with DD #1 and not sure how we will handle it this time but I dont want to be alone

No. I don't want Abby to be without her father. I also want peace before I go home to a newborn AND a toddler. I can handle being alone.

DH didn't stay with me the first time and now he certainly will not.
I don't need him to stay with me after I've given birth, but DD is going to need to see him especially if she's not going to see me for a couple of days (except for short visits up to the hospital, of course).

Dh stayed with me the whole time with DS, but I had a c-section and wanted DS with me so I could BF, and we thought it would be easier for him to bring the baby to me.
For  , I want him to stay home at night with DS.
I'm fine alone and DS will be having a tough enough time without me.

Nope I want DD to have a fairly normal schedule. I also think it is best for him to get as much rest as possible before we have a newborn an toddler 24-7 at home.

same here!
I told him to go home and sleep but he wants to put DS to bed each night at granparents house then come back to the hosptital to stay w me. he worries too much!

Our hospital won't allow it so he'll prob go home to sleep and trade off with my mom who will be staying with DS at our house so that she can come see us too and they can bring DS back.

my hospital doesn't allow it and i would send him home to be with her anyway. i'm not afraid to be alone. he'll only stay during l&d and grandma will watch DD1.

My feelings exactly when we had Eliza. I wanted Mads to have the comfort of a parent being home with her and I wanted to thoroughly relax and not worry about my big old DH trying to sleep on that tiny thing they called a cot in the room.
I truly enoyed having Eliza all to myself those 2 nights.

dh stayed the first night with me and that was it, after that, he would bring dc#1 to visit every night and hang out for a bit, then they would go home
it was fine, I wanted to rest anyway

We go back and forth with this. DH stayed with me with DS, and it would be nice for him to get to stay again. However, I really think its best that DS has a normal routine ((since DH puts him to sleep now)).
If I do happen to go into labor at night, he will be staying that first night, and my mom will come over to stay with DS.

I don't really need him to stay the whole time? what for? At least one of us can sleep at home and be comfortable! Plus, my hospital doesn't allow hubbies to stay overnight. I am more than sure that he'll want to be home with our DD, anyway.

DH didn't stay after DD's birth and he probably wont be staying for DS's birth either. He may as well be home and comfortable.

Another question - I am in FL and my hospital only has a NICU, no nursery, so the baby stays in your room unless it needs to go to the NICU. Would you still send DH home? I have to say I'm surprised that more aren't staying over.

No. Depending on the time we get to our room, Dh will stay till I am settled. If it's early morning, he will go home, nap, shower then bring our DS to visit & be around while we have visitors. If I get to the room in the evening, he will just go pick up Ds from my MILs and go home for the night.
He also has to work. He can't take many days off at all. He will take off while I am in labor but has to go to work after baby boy is born. So if I my hospital stay falls on a week day he will be going to work, the home for a shower, pick up DS then off to the hospital for a visit.
I just don't want DS having to stay over anyones house if he really doesn't have too. I don't need DH with me at the hospital anyway lol. It would be nice to have his company but I know I will be just fine.

Good Sam doesn't allow dads to sleep over, they have to exit by 10pm, if I recall.
Even if he could, I wouldn't want him sleeping over. I would like to keep DD to as much as her routine as possible, and honestly, why do I need him in the hospital? If there are any issues, the nurses are right there. I would rather DH get his sleep now, because once we get home, forget it!!

DH was with me the entire time I was in labor at the hospital. He went home in the morning and slept home the following 2 nights.
Are they even allowed to stay over? I don't think Stony Brook allows it.
No reason for him to be sleeping there at night after the baby is born.

Nope he wasn't allowed to stay with DS #1 and even if we did have that option 2nd time around I'd rather him go and stay the night with my DS so they get their sleep at home.

What hospital did you deliver at that allows DH to stay overnight when you are not in L&D? Just curious, I've never heard of that even when I was in a private room that I paid extra for.
