Will I ever stop looking at milestone charts??
I'm going to drive myself and child crazy! I'm a speech therapist so looking at milestones and development is all i know but how do I make myself stop worrying?! Like right now I'm obsessed with him visually tracking me and objects

Re: Will I ever stop looking at milestone charts??
It's the field. I am also a therapist for Early Intervention and CPSE and I obsess over milestones as well. My ped told me to separate my experience with work from being a mommy. It can drive you nuts. I worried about visual tracking as well and then he did it the following week. This goes for every milestone I have worried about since birth. All babies develop at their own pace. You have to look at the whole picture and not focus on one thing/milestone.

Re: Will I ever stop looking at milestone charts??
I am the same way!! BTW I didn't know you were a speech therapist, I am an OT. I sometimes feel like such a hypocrite b/c I am always telling parents how important tummy time is, etc....DS used to HATE tummy time. So I would always roll him over when he started to cry! I feel guilty when I am not constantly teaching him and helping him to acheive milestones. But I have to remind myself...I am his mommy, not his therapist!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one!! But you're both right, I'm his mommy first not his therapist!

I'm an EI Special Ed. teacher and am the same way. It did lessen as he got older though. I even find myself doing "therapy" when I play with him.
