Window Woes. If you have redone your exterior, please come in
We're in the process of having our siding and windows done. Siding desperately needs to be done but the windows aren't in bad shape. They are brown though so it limits me with color choices and although I don't dislike them, it just isn't my style. The contractor we are working with is actually awesome and trying to keep up from shelling out an additional 12,000 for new windows if we don't need them. If I can get past the brown windows and find siding and trim that dresses it up a little bit, i worry Im going to have to replace them in a few years anyway. They are Marvin windows. Downstairs are from 1989. upstairs are all 1994. They are not drafty and I cannot hear a thing outside my house when they are closed. My question is, how long should windows like this last? I don't want to chose siding and everything around brown windows that I don't love and then have to redo it anyway in 5 years. We are NOT planning on moving out of this house FWIW.
Thanks all.

The windows in my house were installed when my house was built in 1932-so windows can definitely last a long time. If this is your forever home I say invest the money and make it exactly the way you want it.

I agree. Also places like HD often have 2-year interest free financing.
Thinking of doing that when we get to our kitchen.
Also in terms of siding, I was initially planning to do something like a blue shaker siding because I like the look but sat on it and decided to go with something more classic.

Really? That's so helpful! Thanks so much. I've been looking at a million pictures and starting to like the look based on a few things I saw with brown windows. Good to know they still may have some life :)

Thanks. Funny you say that because I wanted the blue/grey shake which is why I also wanted the white windows. Now that Ive been looking at other options with brown, I also ruled it out. It is beautiful though..
