Winter 1st birthday
Starting to think of some ideas for the twins first birthday, more so so I can start getting prices and set aside money. They are January birthdays. Do I have it at my house? Don't have a ton of space, or do I have it at a restaurant or a VFW type place? Any suggestions? I'm in port Jeff area

Winter 1st birthday
I would try the little hall at Heritage Park! I haven't been to a party there but I saw someone setting up for a 1st birthday there last fall.

Re: Winter 1st birthday
I didn't do a first bday but I would never have a party of that size at my house. (Unless it's just immediate family for pizza and cake like I did) Especially in the winter when they all have to be IN your house. Way too much stress
Def start looking at halls if you want a bigger party

Winter 1st birthday
My DD is a December birthday and I had it at home but it was only 25 people. I had it catered. She was the only kid there so I didn't do anything in terms of entertainment.

Re: Winter 1st birthday
At one year old, it's more of an adult party. Have it at your home or a restaurant. Will be plenty of time for kid parties!

Re: Winter 1st birthday
I guess it depends on your crowd. We had DD's at the carousel in Hempstead Lake State Park- there's a party room attached. We had a ton of kids so everyone got to ride the carousel. And DD loved it. Plus the party room was fantastic. The first birthday is a big one- if we didn't do the carousel, we probably would've rented a VFW hall.
DD's second birthday is in April and that's going to be in the backyard.

Re: Winter 1st birthday
Both my girls are winter babies and we had their parties out. Unless you're talking under 20 people, it's hard to do in the house, and the cost adds up quickly anyways.
We had them at restaurants in Nassau and queens, but just an idea, you can check to see if any local churches rent out their halls. We have a few around where i live in Nassau that do that, for about $200, and they will help set up and clean up as well.
ETA: for dd2 we did a winter onederland theme, and I had a hot cocoa bar. PS - it was literally a winter onederland; it blizzarded! But I was touched that nearly everyone still made it.

Winter 1st birthday
Loving the ONEderland theme. I didn't think of this! We did a winter wedding and incorporated lots of Christmas and winter elements. I'm thinking we will need to do out of our house since we will have about 60 people. Too many to do in my house

Winter 1st birthday
I would try Heritage for the Port Jeff Village Center. Their room overlooks the water, and is really nice. My niece had a Winter ONEderland theme. It was really cute

Re: Winter 1st birthday
I did a 1st birthday in the party room at Napper Tandy's in Smithtown. It was great. Good food and service, and a big space. We had entertainment for kids on the dance floor in front of the room and they set up kid tables up front.

Re: Winter 1st birthday
My daughter's birthday is January and we had her first birthday at a restaurant. There were maybe 5 kids there older than 1, mostly adults and infants.

Winter 1st birthday
DD's birthday is in November. We decided on doing it at a restaurant - it's going to be a semi-large party (about what you were saying). Doing it out, I literally have to show up with money and they do the rest. We did DS's 4th at home and it was WAY too much work - even with it outside.

Winter 1st birthday
DS's birthday is in November and we had it at a restaurant. The thought of having all those people in my house gave me anxiety. We had it at Old Fields Restaurant in Port Jeff and it was perfect. They had fresh flowers for the centerpieces and so all we brought were balloons, a banner and the cake. They put the fireplace on and it was really so nice.

Winter 1st birthday
We had our winter baby's 1st at Nunley's Carousel, followed by our family (parents, siblings, aunts and uncles) over for lunch and present opening.
