Winter and the car seat

So, now that the winter weather is finally here, I am having SUCH a hard time with the whole winter jacket/car seat thing. DD is 9 months and it is such a pain to put her jacket on, get her in the car, take it off to get her in the car seat properly. Is there an easier way to do this?

I put and keep DS's jacket on and tighten the belt...most people will argue that.

I guess you could warm up the car and just run her in without a jacket and get her settled. I have heard people say that it's only for a few minutes that she is outside and you can use a blanket so it's not so bad. I don't know.

This is what I do. I know its controversial but I tighten the belts sufficiently every time I put her in.

Oh and for my infant I also use the bundle me :gasp:Chat Icon

I do the same thing! And with my 3 month old I have a one piece suit I put on him before putting him in the car seat. I have also read your not supposed to use a Bundle Me with a car seat...so I guess we are supposed to let our kids freeze Chat Icon

IMO, our parents didnt have car seats for most of us and we survived Chat Icon Tightening the straps over his winter jacket is still going to protect him god forbid something happens.

I pre-warm the car. I put the jacket on over her car seat buckles - like a blanket.

There are some coats that are okay - have you looked into a fleece or a non bulky jacket? Those were okay if they don't compress. You could get a fleece and then put a blanket on them.

Re: Winter and the car seat

we have a non bulky jacket for ds, they only say it is bad if the jacket is one of those huge poofy ones which really make the poor kid uncomfortabel anyways
