Winter birthday parties....When your DC is/was 1..what did you do??

Our DD is going to be at the end of Jan...and I dont know what to do for a party. DH wants to have a semi big party but our house is not big enough for everyone (I have a HUGE family)...

Should we have it in a resturant and try and keep the list small or does anyone have any creative ideas??

The only 'creative' idea I have is getting out a pair of scissors and getting 'creative' with the guest list! Chat Icon I'm in the same boat - DD's birthday is January 16.

I can have it in my friend's community room if I can just shave off a few people from the list. Unfortunately, those people on the chopping block are DH's cousins. With all their kids and their spouses they're 18 people! But I don't think DH will be okay with that. Chat Icon

My daughter's birthday is in December, so I did brunch with Santa at a local hotel. I had 50 people and they gave us our own area.

DH & I discussed immedate family only. This amounts to more people than our house holds. I have no idea what we're going to do.

That was our problem too so we rented a church hall, catered food and got entertainment! It ended up costing less than $1000 for over 100 people!

What about renting a hall, or I know someone that rented a room at a firehouse and had everything catered.

She was able to invite everyone she wanted and didn't have to do the cooking either

My DS will be one in January. Even though it is usually warm here then 60's, I can't rely on it and I don't have the room inside for a big kid party so we are going to have his party at a moon bounce place in the area. All of the kids that will be invited are older then Brady so it will be fun for all.

We can't afford even $500, AND we don't really think having a BIG party for a first b-day is a worhtwhile endeavor.

We want to have a big first birthday, not huge but more than just that baby's aunts and uncles so I think we will probably do it in January at a KofC or something like that. His birthday is Dec 20

We're going for immediate family (and local at that) only, which won't be many people. Even so, I think it will be kind of crowded.

I don't think I'm inviting other kids to that--maybe I'll have a playdate another day and have some little treat for them.

DS is Jan 3rd. We had 2 small parties in 1 weekend. The added bonus is people can pick the day and any family feuds were separated.

John was born in mid December so we had a party with about 40-45 people at my parents house. Then on his actual birthday we had pizza and cake with my parents and invited the God parents.
