winter clothing for 1 yr old

what would you recommend I put on Liam (pants-wise) if it is really cold or snowing and we are just going from house to car and then to daycare?

ETA: I'm good on the tops front. I got tons of onesies, long sleeved tops and sweaters for him. And a good jacket (London Fog) from Babies R Us, and a nice fleece hat from Children's Place.

I heard it's going to get cold next week (yeah what happened to AUTUMN?) and I have jeans but they don't seem warm enough IMO, 2 light sweatpants, 1 pair warm fleece sweatpants, and 1 pair regular fleece pants. Do I need to get him snow pants (the overall kind)?

It was much simpler for me to know what to put on him when we used the BundleMe on the infant carrier. Now he's in a regular carseat.

Also where can I get snowshoes for him. He's got tiny feet (3W).

I do a lot of layering with Noah, he wears a thinner winter coat as its hard to get a kid in a bulky winter coat into his car seat. I am going to leave a bigger winter coat at daycare for playing outside, along with a hat and mittens.

Last year I got a few pairs of lined jeans/pants from Old Navy and they were great, lovely and warm.
