winthrop visiting hours?
does anyone know the visiting hours off hand?
for maternity ward specifically dad's.. not general public?

I believe visiting hours for fathers are 10am-10pm.

yep and then grandparents and siblings are 2-4, babies go back into the nursery at 5 or 6 and then general visiting is from 6:30 -8

They recently changed it. It's now open to the general public from 10 am till 8pm. The babies are with you all day in your room until 6pm to 8pm and then they come back out from 8pm until 10pm. I think they put them back in the nursery from 6pm to 8 pm because that is when most people visit. HTH!

Yep. Dr. Hanauer told me during my pregnancy and then I just gave birth there last week. . I got a private room this time so it didn't really affect me much. My family came during the day and most friends, aside from a few came after work so the baby was in the nursery anyway - which was fine with me because of germs. It was pretty quiet during the day and was most hectic in the halls between 6 and 8 because all the visitors are outside the nursery viewing the babies.

it was bad enough having a shared room with a ton of visitors, ican't even imagine what its going to be like with 2 bassinets in the room plus a roommates bassinet and guests.

Agreed! That's why we splurged this time for the private room. With my DD in a shared room, the girl I shared with didn't comply with the old rules and had about 10 visitors at a time the entire day - my DH was getting elbowed by them through the curtain and I got no sleep. So this time we said whatever it costs...PRIVATE ROOM!

I don't like this new policy at all.
I mean private rooms are 1st come, 1st serve and that means that if your roomate as visitors ALL DAY LONG
1/ you can't rest
2/ your baby who is just a few days old is around your roomate visitors and he/she could catch some illness from them.
I find this to be completely without regards for the babies.
So in essence you have to keep your baby in the nursery so they are not in contact all day long with strangers.
Still I don't want visitors all frigging day. I want to rest.
I had a private room and plan on another one for next time but they are never guaranteed.

You request it when you register when you are about to have the baby. You cannot reserve them ahead of time.

It's first come first serve - so as soon as you are officially "admitted to stay" DH can be put on a list.

While I was getting my nails done yesterday, I spoke with a woman who was a lamaze instructor for Winthrop. She said that they're trying to enforce the rule of only 4 visitors in the room at a time. She rolled her eyes and said...we'll see if they really enforce it though. She also said in the future, they're trying to have every room private.

I actually like those visiting hours...because i have siblings and best friends that i would want to come up and see baby and not through the glass only... and besides i will only tell the important people those hours... besides i was really trying for a private room so the baby can be out more anyway ...and so husband can sleep there bc he is not allowed to leave me

I had a private room but I had about 10 visitors at a time. . I wouldn't of done that if I was sharing a room though. With my first I didn't do that but with the 2nd...you'd rather them all come at the same time so you can get some sleep. They have the sign on the wall saying 4 people at a time but I saw way more than that in everyone's room.
How great would that be if every room was private!
