Wipe Warmer
The Baby Bargains book does not recommend this product. Did anyone register for it anyway? I know my sister used it, but my neice and nephew are now 4 & 6.

Re: Wipe Warmer
I use it every time and am so happy that I got it. DS sleeps right through the middle of the night diaper changes. It's a gentle way to ensure he is clean and doesn't startle him with the cold wipe on his sensitive parts.

Re: Wipe Warmer
we got one and it was a waste! it dried out the wipes on the bottom and i felt like they cooled off fast if you didn't use it immediately.

Re: Wipe Warmer
we didn't. we didn't want em becoming accustomed to warm wipes at all times...
same reason we didn't do a bottle warmer!
(the cold wipes do NOT wake her up during her night feedings)

Re: Wipe Warmer
The book freaked me out bc it said something about it being a fire hazard (besides from the fact that a lot of reviews say they dry out the wipes and or make them brown). So, I took it off my registry.

Re: Wipe Warmer
We have one but realized DS cried whether they were cold or warm. Plus, once you take them out of the warmer they get cold right away. When it is chilly in the room when we change him, we run a few wipes under warm water but I really dont think DS cares either way.

Re: Wipe Warmer
we had one with ds and only used it when he was upstairs... it made a huge difference because the changing table is on the outside of the house and those wipes were BEYOND cold and there is a definite difference on how cold they were compared to the ones down stairs.... and i agree that it avoid MANY late night sprinkles....we didnt register for it and ended up getting one when he was a month old and the temp dropped outside....
as for the wipes getting brown, there is an EXTREMELY easy way to avoid that... dont put as many in it! they only turned brown in ours when i filled it to the top because they were sitting in it so long... also i have the lionheart one and it has a moisture pad that keeps them moist....
as for the bottle warmer comment, we had one of those as well.. and while i didnt want to have one we had no choice, whenever a cold bottle hit ds stomach you could actually hear his stomach making noises and he would scream... also if you plan on using pumped milk that is cold it tends to get chunky and comes out 100 times better if the bottle is warm

Re: Wipe Warmer
Never had one. Many have been recalled because they've started fires. Even the ones that haven't been recalled are fire hazards. Yes, there are ways to prevent it, but there are ways to prevent nearly all house fires. IMHO, a warm wipe isn't worth the extra risk.
DW and I were NEVER peed on by either DC, DD or DS, even with room-temp wipes.
You can always hold the wipe between your hands for a few seconds to warm it up slightly.

Re: Wipe Warmer
IMO its not necessary, but its a personal choice. I will say however, DS was born late July, we got pee'd on with or without cold wipes in a heat wave in August. I don't think anything could've stopped him from sprinkling.

Re: Wipe Warmer
Didn't want one, didn't register for one, but one was given to us and I HATED it. It dried out all the wipes and turned them brown. AWFUL! Total wate of money.
