Wish me luck - w/ UPDATE
After my two losses and no explanation, I took all of your advice and made an appointment to see Dr. B. I'll be in the Woodbury office this morning at 10am. Hopefully soon I'll have some answers
UPDATE - so I went for the initial consult and all went well. He wrote me a script for all types of testing and was going to send a "kit" for DH that we had to send back.
However, after speaking with DH last night, we've decided he's just way to since he's not in our insurance network, so we've decided to go somewhere that does accept our insurance. Unfortunately, I just can't justify spending so much money when I can go somewhere else and have the same services and pay half the price. The consult alone was and that was just so he could talk to me and write a script
Thank you anyhow for the recommendation!

well just so you know, you absolutely cannot go somewhere else and get the same exact care you would get from Dr. B. he has a lot of custom protocols and custom bloodwork that no other dr does. Dr. T at SIRM gives similar care, but Dr. B's focus on repeat loss and immunology is something that is world reknown and that you cannot get from another RE. other than Dr. T, most RE's don't believe that thrombophilia and immune issues can cause miscarriage and failed cycles. im not saying spend money you dont have, i am just saying dont assume you will get the same services somewhere else because you absolutely will not. he is one of the only doctors in the area that focuses on repeat pregnancy loss. no matter what you decide to do, i am sorry you have to think about this

Thank you. I understand what you girls are saying, but I'd like to see what we can rule out WITH insurance first to keep costs as low as possible.

I totally understand. I wish I knew how so many people could afford to go the non-insurance route.

This is how I felt. I was really happy with Dr Mullin at North Shore, she was great. If they take your insurance I recommend trying there.. even with another dr if you need to. My only issue with them was the billing dept calling me back sometimes. But the dr, nurses, etc were so sweet, helpful, etc.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
p.s. i realize we don' t have the same problem. Did you obgyn recommend anyone to you? mine gave me a list of RE's to call. I can ask them for a reco for one for recurring losses today when I am there if you want.

Thanks Chris. I actually have an appointment Wednesday for RSofNY. I've heard great things about them and that's where my OB refers as well. AND they take my insurance

Wish me luck - w/ UPDATE
For what it's worth, I'm in a similar situation and did the same thing. I've been pregnant 3 times in a year. I've had D&E, chemical pregnancies and a D&C. My first pregnancy was a fatal birth defect so I was able to find a reason for that one. My recent loss, they found nothing wrong. I thought about going to Dr. Braverman - even made the appt. Then I cancelled it b/c of the $$$$$. I felt I couldn't justify it if I know there were other dr's that do take my insurance. And then do keep going back with him and signing on to his program all out of pocket. I have since gone to a RE and met with a few MFM and they have done many tests on me and still can't find anything wrong.
Good luck to you!!!

This is exactly my thoughts, but I had a diagnosis from my hematologist. Can your normal obgyn give a script for recurrent miscarriage panel?

if no one has found anything wrong you should reconsider dr. B. he does many many tests that no one else does, so chances are he will find something. i dont know too many people who have had losses who have seen dr. B and who HAVEN'T been DX with some issue.
he believes in immune and thrombophilic causes of miscarriage and tests for issues that no one else does. if you can't see him maybe try Kofinas but since they both take out of network insurance only you'd probably have the same issue. call SIRM and see if Dr. T takes your insurance also.
but as we noted above, a regular RE may do a mc panel, but they will not test and treat immune or thrombo issues which more times than not are teh problem that other doctors haven't found.
again, no matter what you choose, good luck!!!

Re: Wish me luck - w/ UPDATE
I agree.. only thing I'll add is as far as "believing" in immune and thrombo issues... I went for many other opinions from various top doctors before we decided on surrogacy. One of them put it very simply.... there's no such thing as believing or not believing in these issues. It is real, they exist- the question is do you have a problem that's worth treating in order to have a successful pregnancy..
I personally wouldn't see a doctor who purely doesn't BELIEVE in these issues as possible causes. I have seen nearly every doctor under the sun so please FM if you have any questions!

See I have to disagree. My ob believes in immune issues and my hematologist actually diagnosed me before he for he blood work back and he was right I was lucky and got to the hematologist before I had the recurrent miscarriage panel bc my primary dr told me that my hemoglobin dropped dramatically and to see the hematologist.

I actually insisted that my RE test me for factor five which, if I'm correct is associated with thrombopilic disorders( not something they normally test for unless your history shows you have a reason to think there is a clotting disorder ). The RE and the MFM did the mc panel on me. Don't get me wrong I have dr b's # still handy in case I change my mind.
Good luck to everyone!!!
