With the nice weather here, I was brought back to last summer....(PPD Related)

today. I was driving this evening, and it was so beautiful and I was just enjoying the nice day, and I was suddenly thrown back to last summer in an instant. I remembered just how hard it was to be a new mom, and how sad and depressed I was all the time. I felt trapped in my house, and would cry out of desperation to be part of the world. It was really upsetting to have those feelings thrown upon me, out of nowhere, and it was a reality check for me. I felt that way everyday for months. With Ava's birthday coming up next week, I have such mixed emotions. I miss my tiny baby girl, but at the same time, I am so extremely happy that I am past that stage with her. It makes me sad still that what should have been the happiest time of my life, was so consumed by PPD that I couldn't see through the fog that surrounded me.
Anyway, I just wanted to share that because I know there are so many new moms on here right now, and everytime I read a post about how you're having a hard time, I really do go right back to those feelings again. Like today, I sometimes get a reminder of those days that were so incredibly hard. But, at the same time, it's amazing how just a handful of months later, those days of crying and feeling like I couldn't live anymore are a distant memory. I'm not going to tell anyone to enjoy it now because it goes so fast, hell, DON'T enjoy it! It's NOT always enjoyable, but do know that the more they grow, the more fun they become. I am amazed at how I love her more everyday. So, for all you new moms or not-so-new moms who are having a hard time today or any other day Maybe we don't all see eye-to-eye all the time, but we can certainly all agree that being a mom isn't always easy and that we all do the best we can

That is very lovely, Rach. And you are right, being a mom is difficult, especially in the very beginning. And, we are all just trying to do our best.

I adore toddlerhood and the preschool age to the infant and newborn stage so I hear you 100%!

Very well said! I can totally relate and Nichoals was born at the end of October, when the cold days where just starting. In a way I missed those days, but I love the way that he is right now... he brings lots of fun and I can not love him more!

What you said was so true and beutifully written. It really helps new moms to know that there is this support system, available anytime they need it.
