Withholding poop
I posted a while ago that DS was withholding his poop... Well it's been well over 6 mos and it's getting SO much worse. It's inhibiting his playtime bc he has to stop to cross his legs and squeeze it back in Now all of a sudden all of his pants are falling off of him and I'm starting to think he's losing weight bc he never eats because he probably always feels full from never pooping. It's so sad
Is there anything I can do to convince him to let it go? We always try to convince him that it's OK to let it out. And I havent even touched potty training with him for fear of making it worse (aside from asking him if he'd rather do it on the potty, to which he always says "no).

Re: Withholding poop
we went through this with my first daughter - it turned out to be a phase (a week to a couple weeks of frustration for us and her) and she stopped holding her poop in. With my second daughter its been a bit more difficult - we have had to give her laxatives to make her go with the advice of gastro doctors and peditrician. Its a very common behavior that children go through and it can often start because their stool is hard and hurts to pass. My daughter always went hard - she would eventually get fissures because of it and would be afraid to pass it. Can you alter his diet a bit? Add more fiber? I would have to sometimes threaten my DD with an enema, suppository - only b/c after 4-5 days she still refused to go - and this was the only way to give her relief. WELL - sometimes after threatening a bit - she would sit on the potty or diaper at the time - at would eventually push it out.
ITs very frustrating i know!!
