Woman faints on train and NO ONE helps! TRUE STORY
I was on the 6 train on my way home yesterday and I was sitting down. There were 2 young girls sitting next to me and a woman standing up in front of them holding on to the pole. She attempted to sit down but there wasn't enough space for her. A few minutes later I look over at her, and I see her face is turning and all of the sudden she starts falling. She fell towards the girls and they got scared and tried to move back as far as they could in the seat. I got up and tried to stop her from hitting her head. Mind you I'm 8 months pregnant!!! You would think that SOMEONE..ANY of the men would help..but they all just sat there and WATCHED!! At this point I'm trying to hold this woman and started yelling for someone to help!! I could not believe it. No one did anything. I layed her on her side, because it appeared she was having a seizure (very mild one..but still). An OLDER man started pressing the button to get the conductors attention but of course it didn't work. The lady started coming around..and I asked her if she was ok..and she said yes, but you could see she was still disoriented. I offered my hand, and at this point I started yelling again, "WILL SOMEONE F***ING HELP ME GET THIS WOMAN UP..WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE". FINALLY a woman came and helped me get her up. I asked the lady if she was ok, and she said yes. She looked more embaressed than anything, and got off the train. After a while the train started moving again, and can you believe someone actually had the nerve to take my seat?
I tell you..people in NYC are so f***ing rude. I don't even care about losing my seat. I just can't believe NO ONE even thought to help but me.
UNBELIEVABLE!! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ANY OF THEIR MOTHERS!!!

It never ceases to amaze me and it's not only in the city, it's on the island too. People are so self-involved they could care less what goes on around them.

That infuriates me. What if that woman had been having a stroke or a heart attack? At least you were nice enough to help

That's how I felt..and what was even more scary is how the so--called "emergency buttons" don't work on the train!!

That is ridiculous. Good thing you helped her.
I blacked out on the subway and a woman picked me up off the ground, gave me her seat, then walked me to my office a couple of blocks from the subway ! So, sometimes people are good!

I agree. That's REALLY scary. I don't know what people would do if there was a serious emergency going on. This makes me glad that I don't take the train...

I fainted on the train once on the way to high school. I must have fallen on the people sitting behind me - next think I know I'm coming to & being pushed off at the next stop. Never mind people not helping they couldn't wait to get rid of me.
Mind you I was fourteen sporting a pony tail & a Catholic school uniform. Maybe they thougt I was trouble.

HOrrible!
That was my biggest fear in the early, queasy and dizzy, stages of pregnancies: that I would pass out on the F train 'cause let's face it--who would care

That's absolutely HORRIBLE! Unfortunately I am not surprised! And I'm not surprised the the men just sat around and watched. Men commuting are the worst! No respect whatsoever!

I did what I would do for anyone... Dh at first was upset that I attempted it out of fear for the baby..but completely agreed with me.
Thanks everyone!! It's nice to know that there are still decent people in this world...
