Woman on MTV's 'Teen Mom' Gets 5 Years in Prison

An Indiana woman featured on MTV's reality show "Teen Mom" has been sentenced to five years in prison after opting out of a drug-treatment program.
Amber Portwood pleaded guilty in February to felony possession of a controlled substance and admitted violating her probation. The 22-year-old avoided prison by entering a drug rehabilitation program.
But on Tuesday, after she quit the program, a Madison County judge sentenced her to the five-year term she originally faced.
Prosecutor Rodney Cummings tells The Indianapolis Star that Portwood said she just couldn't do it and "wanted out of the program."
Her attorney didn't return messages seeking comment.
Portwood received probation in 2010, after pleading guilty to domestic battery charges stemming from an incident with her now 3-year-old daughter's father that appeared on the MTV show.

who in their right mind would choose jail time over drug treatment and her child?   that poor baby... i hope they are saving some of that MTV cashflow for her therapy.

If she thought the treatment program was hard, how can she possibly think jail will be easier? Ugh, what a waste. That poor little girl.

This is one of the most sickening thing I've ever heard. I really hope the father will at least be good to that little girl. How sad.

She was ridiculous and frankly, disgusting. She was given an opportunity to clean up and she didn't take it and now she has to face the consequences. The only person I feel sorry for is her poor daughter who has been repeatedly exposed to the constant yelling and fighting.

What a trash bag. She would rather rot 5 years of her life away from her little girl in jail than to get the help she needs. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, she will hopefully be able to stay clean in jail and her little girl will get away from this trainwreck for the time being

It's sick and sad to think she's going to miss some of the best years of her daughter's life. If/when she gets out of jail, her daughter won't even know her.
