Re: Woman Sues Police For Miscarriage
They did not cause her miscarriage. Yes they refused her medical attention which they should be held accountable but the majority of miscarriages happen in the first trimester.
(and again... to you)

Re: Woman Sues Police Over Miscarriage
It's just an awful situation for her to have no one help her.....especially the police.

Re: Woman Sues Police Over Miscarriage
It just makes me wonder.
What if she said she was having chest pains and they refused treatment then she had a heart attack and died?
While I'm sure there are people who fake injury or illness to get the police off their backs for a little bit, I think they need to err on the side of caution.
There's no reason they couldn't have taken her to an ER and then taken her into the Police station after she was examined.
Could have avoided the whole thing.

wow...bad all around....they didn't cause the miscarriage, but the should have taken her to the ER to have her checked before they took her to the police station...yikes.

I agree. They should have just escorted her to the hospital, had her checked out and then taken her to the police station.
BTW, what was up with the "she says bleeding, but she's not a doctor" comment. This is why I think they were negligent. I didn't know you needed a medical degree to determine if you are bleeding

agree 100%
No, it wasn't their fault for her miscarriage, BUT they absolutely should be held accountable for refusing her medical treatment.

I agree they should have taken her for medical treatment however I don't think that a 1st trimester miscarriage is avoidable - particularly if she was already bleeding.

Agreed.
I meant could have avoided the lawsuit, not the miscarriage.

I don't think she's blaming them for the miscarriage, just the mistreatment, which was appalling....

Re: Woman Sues Police Over Miscarriage
Wow, while I sympathize with that woman for a miscarriage I dont know if I could hold the police accountable... They didn't cause her MC. She could have been bleeding for a week HAD the MC and was trying to use it as an excuse not to be arrested. She went to the store. She was also arrested because she had "outstanding warrants for mistreatment of children..." among other things. I hope she doesnt get a dime.

BTW I am ALWAYS in the hopital bed next to the guy who fakes a heart attack at the Mineola courts when I go to Winthrop. Every single time I am next to someone who has a judge visit them, or a police escort.

I thought there was, you should see the "sudden illnesses" that arrested persons come down with that the NYPD bring to my ER
