Women for Women in Lake Success
Looking into switching practices. Anyone see this group? If so, who is your doctor, did you deliver with them and would you recommend them? What about the staff? Do you have all your sonograms in their office?
Thanks!

Re: Women for Women in Lake Success
So, I just called up to inquire about sonograms taken in their office, or out, and the woman on the other end of the phone was so not helpful and sounded bored and rude. I don't need you to give me a hug over the phone, but would it kill you to be pleasant?? I hate the attitude at some of these offices. Ugh.

Re: Women for Women in Lake Success
My first two DDs were delivered with this practice and I found the bedside manner to be sorely lacking...NO personality. Medically, no real problems; however, I never felt they knew me at all--and I even had complications with the first. Also, it appeared the hospital staff wasn't too fond of the doctor who delivered my girls either. Once my insurance changed, I got right out and never looked back.

One of my besties used them and if it wasn't for Dr Bell she said she would of left because of the front office staff. Some of the ladies on this board uses them and have said the same regarding front office staff.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Women for Women!!!! The delivered my LO. I'm surprised that the woman wasn't helpful on the phone. It must be an off day. I have been going there for about 4 years and I continue to go there 50% for the doctors and 50% because the staff is so nice and pleasant (which is hard to find).
To answer your questions... My Dr is Dr. Duncan but when you are pregnant you see all of the doctors so you know them and they know you during delivery. Our favorite is Dr. Bell. Dr. Bell was on call when I went into labor but Dr. Duncan ended up delivering. I will recommend them to anyone and everyone...and I do!
The first sonogram is in their office and the 3D if you want to have that done there (but the 3D is done by a tech). The only ones that are out at LIJ are the NT Scan and the Anatomy Scan. They do not do the glucose test, I had to go to a Quest for that.
Like I said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! They are a great practice and VERY happy I found them.
EDIT: I just read the other two comments and I am VERY surprised with both of them. I suffered from PP and my doctor took the time to sit with me and find out the best game plan. I just had my annual and asked her about it again (trying to prevent it the next time) and she gave me plenty of options. They don't run to give medications and try some holistic options. I'm not usually into that stuff but it was nice to know they weren't just trying to drug me. After I delivered, I saw Dr. Bell come in my room twice a day to check on me and Dr. Duncan came even when she wasn't on call to check in.

I'm quite surprised by the other comments as well. I switched there just for the fact they were local and delivered at LIJ. I loved all the dr's. I saw all the Dr's but Dr Bell was the one who delivered my DD. She was amazing. I was in labor for 27 hours, moaning groaning and making all sorts of noises because LO just wasn't cooperating to help me dialate. Dr Bell kept the mood in the delivery light and calm. Assuring me I could do it and just made the best out of the situation.
I thought the staff was extremely pleasant any time I was in the office or even afterwards when I had to call due to mastitis.
I guess the sonogram question for them is tough...some are done in house and some are done next door at LIJ. Maybe you just got someone new who didn't know...or that person is having an off day.
I cannot say enough good things about this office. I've heard wonders about Dr Duncan with PP.
Good luck with your decision...and go with your gut on who you like. Everyone is going to have a different experience...just make yours the best that you can for you.

Women for Women in Lake Success
I, too, am surprised at the negative responses about the practice. I left a practice in Garden City affiliated with Winthrop after visiting my SIL at Winthrop after the birth of my 2 nephews -- on both occasions, the staff at the hospital was rude, her room was dirty, bathroom not cleaned properly, etc. I changed to Women for Women at the recommendation of a good friend and because I wanted to deliver at LIJ. I'm 26 weeks and have met all but one doctor who my next appointment is with. My primary is Dr. Bell and she is AMAZING. My other favorites are Dr. Smizer (the new doctor that just started with them) and Dr. Sanders. I wasn't a huge fan of Dr. Duncan (she was all business the day I met her and didn't seem to have great bedside manner) but I know 2 women who use the practice, said the same thing about Dr. Duncan when meeting her during office rotations, and she happened to be the doctor on call when they were in labor. Both said she was absolutely amazing during labor and delivery. The office staff has been great and I've had no problems with them. They always return phone calls, leave the doctor messages when I call, try to be as accommodating as possible when I need to change an appointment last minute, etc. I've never waited super long for an appointment and feel that they spend an adequate amount of time with me in the room -- I'm never rushed or made to feel like a number, and I usually ask a lot of questions. I am very happy with the practice and have referred numerous people to them. My friend is a nurse at LIJ and says that all the doctors in the practice are very highly regarded by the hospital staff and well liked by the patients.
As for sonograms, your routine ones are all done in office, but they don't do a ton of sonograms. You will hear the heart beat at every appointment with the Doppler machine. I had one in the office on my first visit to confirm the pregnancy and hear the heartbeat. My 20 week anatomy scan was done at LIJ in the Antepartum Office/Maternal Fetal Medicine and I have a growth sono scheduled around 32ish weeks which will also be done at LIJ.
