wood decking vs concrete patio

We just received the keys to our new home today which is sooo exciting/overwhelming. I would love to update the yard before the summer. Can you tell me the pros and cons btwn wood decking and a poured concrete patio? The house is concrete so I think a stained/stamped concrete would look nice. But the deck might be more comfortable. Then of course there's the money issueChat Icon

I like both. We plan to do a smallish deck that leads down to a patio. The good thing about a patio is that it won't make your taxes go up like building a deck will. Growing up we had both and I always like the deck better...

Deck is a lot of maintenance. If I was going to do a deck I weould do that Treck Deck, I think thats the correct spelling?
I will say my neighbors have a deck that overlooks my yard and I feel like i have no privacy because they are about 2 feet over from my fence , I wish they had a patio instead lol

Wood - "warmer" look to it, more natural looking, easy to change colors.

Concrete - less maintenance

Trex costs more upfront, but you don't have to stain or seal it every year or two. It won't rot or warp, so you never have to replace it. It probably comes out to the same costs in the long run, but you're paying for that all upfront.

Thanks for all the advice. I think we are going to get prices on pavers and stamped concrete. I love a deck but Im worried about the maintenance and I think Trex would be way over budget.
