Work Related Question
Ok...so my original plan was to work as close to the birth date...since maternity leave is not the greatest i wanted to maximize my time for after the baby.
My due date is next Friday...i commute via subway from Forest Hills Queens to midtown NY. I am at the point where i am done with work and commuting...i would love for tomorrow to be my last day but i am not sure how keen my boss will be about it and what if i go 10 days late? Thats 2 weeks of my maternity leave wasted. And when you only get 8 weeks thats a lot.
I dunno what to do

Re: Work Related Question
Is it feasible for your to take a cab at least one way and maybe go another week? I know it's expensive but going out of work is moreso.

Re: Work Related Question
What about taking the express bus (QM12 or QM 4) from Forest Hills to midtown? I take it every day (though I am not pregnant!!), but it's great. You always get a seat and it's much nicer than the subway.

its not so much taking the subway thats the problem...i take the local so i always get a seat - its just the whole process...and then sitting here all day uncomfortable. My back hurts and my stupid carpal tunnel hurts. I got a dumb brace but it doesnt do anything.
I just want to be home...thats all...i'm just complaining - thanks for listening

Re: Work Related Question
Im not due until the 21st and i wanted to wait until the last day to leave work, but it just got to be too much, ive been out of work for two weeks already, but im not using my maternity leave yet. if you can afford to loose the money you can just not get paid until the baby is born, its hard, but i only get 6 weeks maternity leave. and the job is to physical for me to keep going. Your maternity leave doesnt start i think until you give birth or your doctor signs the papers, not sure., but my doc didnt want to sign the papers and didnt want me to work... so confusing how things work.

Re: Work Related Question
I've been wondering how long I'll last myself with my commute. I hear you, it's not just having a seat, it's all the time and hassle involved. And my back hurts after sitting for awhile.
I agree, see if you can work from home. The alternative is not coming to work at all, which wouldn't be appealing to me as a supervisor.
Will your doctor back you up? They may have to let you leave early if you have medical documentation.

ITA. I take it everyday as well. It makes the commute so much more bearable! If they don't let you work from home, then at least your commute could be a bit more pleasant!
