Work xmas party, is it bad that i go?
I just had my DD is sept. and just returned to work last week. My work is having their Xmas party at a yacht club and I cant get a babysitter. My DH said he would watch dd and i can go, but i feel bad going with out him. Im trying to convince him to ask his mom to watch her, but she lives 45 mins away. I said she could sleep here, so we can go together. Hes not sure if he wants to ask her, and my family is all busy and cant watch her.
Would you go?

Keep working on asking your MIL. Tell him you want to enjoy a night out w/ him. And it's free!!

OR I would go alone. If you just came back from maternity leave, you really want them to know that you are back, you are still the great worker you were pre-baby, if not better and more on your game since having DC, KWIM?
I think it takes a lot of guts to go to these things alone. If someone asks where is DH, tell them that he is bonding with DC and that you and your DH are a great team. That, you needed a night out to reconnect with co-workers after being on maternity leave. That will stop them from making comments behind your back or to your face (office gossip) and you will look confident and that you have your act together at work and in your personal life.
I was in a similar situation right after my surgery, I am glad I went to that work function alone. Actually, I made a great contact there (at the function) that is now a great client of mine. HTH

Not so worried about Gossip, if they want to talk about me thats fine, glad to see im so important that they notice me .. Plus someone always gets drunk there and makes a fool of themselves so that ends up being the gossip ( one year an office manager was soo drunk she was crawling under tables and another year a receptionist was wearing a strapless dress and dancing with head doctor and her boobs were out and about and swinging in the wind and she didnt even notice)
I just wanted him to go b/c like a previous poster said its a free night out..

I would go alone if that is the only option. I may be in the minority since I flew to Dallas from Cincinnati to go to my company's Christmas party while I was still on maternity leave and the baby was 6 weeks old. I only went for one night and was gone less than 24 hours. But still it was a nice thing for *me* after the baby.

Re: Work xmas party, is it bad that i go?
I came back in October from maternity leave. My company is having it's party on the 21st. Since DH works nights, he never goes with my. But my mom is babysitting so I can go...
I would see if you can get MIL to go and go with DH. If not, if you think that you'll be able to enjoy yourself, then let DH watch DD and go...
