Working Moms - do you have a cleaning person??

DH & I work FT so the spare time we have we don't want to use to clean, we would prefer to spend with DS.

We are considering getting a cleaning person.

Do you have them come once or twice a month??

What do they do & don't do for example do they clean the windows ??

About how much should I expect to pay??

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am looking into getting one myself. Either 1 or 2 times per month.

Re: Working Moms - do you have a cleaning person??

We do and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I started it when I was pregnant and had zero energy.

I use Merry Maids. They are $85 every two weeks.

As a general rule, they dust, vacuum the floors and furniture, clean the bathroom and kitchen top to bottom, and wash the hard wood floors every other visit.

If we have special requests they cost extra (fridge cleaning, oven cleaning, etc).

They do not do windows - it's an insurance thing. Something about ladders, etc.

It saves me so much time and energy and it's totally worth the prices.

I do as well. We have her come twice a month... every other Monday. It's so great to know that when I go home that day I'm going home to a clean house. I can't imagine having enough time right now to clean the house.....I never ever ever ever ever want to NOT have a cleaning lady again........ Chat Icon

Re: Working Moms - do you have a cleaning person??

I'm a SAHM.. but with 3 kids I don't have time to do hardcore cleaning.. and i'm a neat freak so I have 2 ladies that come every other week for $80 and they dust, vacuum, mop the floors, scrub the bathrooms and kitchen, change sheets and make the beds, clean the windows.... BEST thing I EVER EVER did!

How about non-working moms Chat Icon (well, moms that work from home)

We have them come every other week and it really is such a huge help!

I'm a working mom...but DH is home with DD during the day. We have someone come and clean EVERY week...it's such a treat not to have to worry about cleaning. I pay $60/week.

I have a lady come now and then (not on any regular basis) and she charges 10 bucks an hour, it usually costs about 50 bucks to clean my house (5-6 hours)....I think it is definitely worth it Chat Icon

We're in the same boat - we've never had one, we could certainly USE one, we just can't afford it with daycare and everything else...

I have a lady who comes every other week and we pay her $70. She pretty much cleans everything except our oven and fridge. she does dust our blinds and the ceiling fans if I ask her.

Re: Working Moms - do you have a cleaning person??

My mom has a woman come in every Saturday for 5 hours, and she gets paid $10 per hour.

My mother is very specific about what she wants done because of her bad knees. IE washing of floors, vacuuming the whole house, dusting, bed making, cleaning of the kitchen. She doesn't have her do anything like the laundry or washing of dishes tho - that's all stuff that my mom can manage on her own.

Re: Working Moms - do you have a cleaning person??

I have one that comes every 2 weeks. I love her- she does all the stuff I hat and don't have tome to do (floors, bathtub etc.)
It also forces me to put all my stuff away the night before she comes because if I don;t she doesn and I can't find anyhting. Totally worth every penny.
