Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

Just curious, working moms, how often do you have time to cook after work?

I do so maybe about 3 times a week after work and feel so drain after eating and cleaning up! On top of that I'm supposed to bathe, put the baby to bed and get his food ready for daycare the next day? :P

It's so much easier just to take out or dine out!

I cook pretty much every.single.day. My husband expects a hot dinner every night!!! I don't cook HUGE fancy meals, its sometimes just something like meat on the BBQ and some veggies and rice. We have a takeout on a Friday night and Saturday we always have Steak and Chips (fries made in the oven) but I do cook a lot, its cheaper and more satisfying.

Now ask me how much I clean....

now being pregnant again...not that muchChat Icon I do prob a couple times a week...but easy stuff, pork chops, making marinara sauce, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, frying cutlets up, etc. my DH is a saint and does most of the cooking. We also order pizza 1 night a week and one night a week/weekend we either go out or bring in something else. The days I work tends to be the days I dont cook as by the time I get DS home, give him a bath and me a shower, and give DS dinner, its 5:30 and my DH is home already so he will start it or we do it together

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

I cook everyday. I make dinner 5-6x a week. I usually have one day of take away and we normally go to my MIL's on Sundays for dinner.

I usually cook a big breakfast at least one of the two weekend days and I often try to cook one lunch on Saturday or Sunday.

But.. we don't eat until pretty late during the week.

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

Around 3 times a week? but, I make a lot so we can have leftovers throughout the week.

I am trying to get myself on a schedule where I cook on the weekend and have it to just heat up for the rest of the week.

We very rarely order out-maybe 1x a month. If I don't cook and we don't have leftovers-it's a bowl of cheerios for dinner for everyone!

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

I don't cook during the week...I do cook on weekends and make meals for the week though. I will make dishes and freeze them and then defrost & reheat as the week goes on. I will make a sauce with meatballs, a meatloaf, a potroast...things like that.

I cook 3 days a week and make enough that I can alternate meals and eat leftovers throughout the week. When I'm absolutely tired, I have no shame to order out!

i try to make 1 or 2 big meals on the weekend that we can eat for 2 days during the week.

then during the actual week i cook maybe twice, and we eat leftovers from that for one day.

that's how i usually get through the week!

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

I work PT and what's funny is it's the days that I DON'T work I can't seem to get dinner made! Chat Icon

I TRY to cook most nights, but often times I forget to take something out to defrost. DH doesn't eat pasta, so that's out, otherwise we'd be eating pasta every night.

I try to make quick simple things that can cook on low heat while I tend to DD. Many times, I just put her in her highchair, put on some of her music that she likes, give her a few toys and do what needs to be done. Other times, I'm just too darn tired, that DD and I just lounge in my bedroom with the TV on for an hour before it's time to get her read for bed.

Pretty much every day. But that includes quick dinners like english muffin pizzas or hot dogs if we have something quick.

I cook 7 days a week. I have 3 kids. I pre-cook all meals on the weekend so that they just need to be reheated.

Maybe once or twice a month. DH is an amazing cook & gets home earlier than I do so it makes sense that he starts dinner. He cooks, I clean. He also uses every pot in the house when he cooks, so it's definitely evenChat Icon

We do takeout maybe 1-2 a week particuarly on the nights were the kids have after school activities.
