Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I'll soon be returning to the office, and am trying to figure out how much time I'll need to get me and DS ready and out the door in the AM.
Can you list your morning weekday schedule to get you and DC ready?

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
My hours at work are 7:30 to 4:00.....I am up at 5:30am and it takes about 1/2 to feed, change diapers and dress my boys (DH has one, I have the other). So, I have from 6:00 am to 6:30 am to get dressed, brush teeth, do something with my hair (keep in mind, I shower at night and have a wash-and-go hairstyle now).
I then pack up their bottles and jarred food, any extra onesies and bibs and put in their bag for daycare. Pour my coffee in a thermos, pack my lunch, and put them in thier carseats. I'm out the door by 6:45. Also, one of my sons, Nicholas, is famous for doing a huge poopie diaper just as I am about to leave
By 7:00am, I have dropped them off and am on the road for work.
So....it takes me about 1.5 hours all in all.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
DS usually gets up around 6:30 AM. I give him his bottle, change his diaper, and get him dressed, and take him downstairs to play with him a little.
DH gets up around 7AM, he showers and is done by 7:30, when we switch. I then shower, while DH gives him breakfast.
My mom/babysitter comes at 8AM.
ETA: when he was a newborn/infant, I would also make his bottles, etc. for the day.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
Mine is a little ridiculous but I work from 7:30/7:45 until 4pm.
I get up at 4:45. I like to get in and out of the shower while DH is still home. He leaves at about 5:25. While he is in the bathroom getting ready I get DD's bottles ready for daycare and empty the dishwasher and make the bed. Once he leaves I go back in the bathroom and blow dry my hair and do my makeup. This puts me at about 6am. Usually while I am starting to get dressed, DD is rousing from her sleep. Once I am dressed I go and make her morning bottle and then go change, dress, and feed her. We are usually done at about 6:30 so it leaves me about 20 minutes to play with her or sometimes if I still have stuff to get together I put her in her bouncy and she watches Oobi for like 15 minutes. We are out the door at 6:55. I drop her off at 7:10 and get to work about 7:40. I pick her up at 4:30 and then we go home play for like 20 minutes and then I put her in her highchair and we cook dinner together.
Needless to say I am in bed by 9pm.
I'm debating whether or not to get start getting up at 4:15 three times/week to do a pilates dvd. I'm nuts - I know!!!!!
ETA: The above is subject to change if DD decides to wake at a different time LOL!!! This morning she slept straight through until 5am so she watched mommy blow dry and do make up LOL!!!

I can't believe you make your bed every day. I don't even make mine on the weekends anymore. You are my personal hero!
For me: Betwn 5:30am - 6am DS gets up. I feed him his bottle, change him, play with him a little. Sometimes I will let him play on his play mat or sit in his exersaucer while I lay on the couch for another 20 mins ( I am so not a morning person).
Bottles have ALL been prepared the night before and I have showered the night before as well. DS and I head upstairs and he sits in the bouncy seat in the bathroom with me with a few toys while I try to make myself look somewhat "together" for work.
7:15 - 730am I will start making DS cereal and put him in the highchair.
7:45am - Mom / Nanny arrives to my house and I am out the door until 5:30pm.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I'm there with you. DS is about 3 mos and starting Daycare in a couple of weeks. I'm back at work now and grandma is watching him for the next two weeks. I figured this.
Up and 5:30 - 5:45 AM to feed DS. I give him to DH around 6:15 to dress and change him while I shower (I have to in the mornings to wake me up), make-up, dress, etc). I figured I'd leave close to 7 AM and get DS to Daycare around 7:30ish. We're going to prepare the bottles at night and pack his bag with whatever is needed. Then I'm off to work. THis can change since I'm not there yet. For now we do this sched till my MIL or my mother get there to watch DS.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I get up around 5:30, give or take a few snoozes. Make coffee, bathroom stuff, get dressed. If DS is up before 6, I get him, feed him, change him and put him in his crib to play. If he is up after 6, DH does the routine with him and gets ready while he's playing in the crib. I leave for work between 6:15 and 6:30, DH drops Jacob at the babysitter at 7 and then goes to work.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
Since DH leaves for work around 9am, he has baby duty in the morning.
Me: Wake at 6:15/6:30 - Shower Wake DD up at 6:45 (she's usually still asleep) While DH changes/feeds and dresses DD, I get ready for work.
7:20 - Pack up bottles/food for daycare put everything in the car.
7:30 - out the door w/DD 7:45 - Daycare 8:15ish - Work (depends on how long I spend with DD once I drop her off).
4:30 - Leave work and pick up DD by 4:45.

I give all of you who wake up at 4am so much credit! I dread the 4am feedings, and I still get to go to bed for a couple hours after that!

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I wake up at 6:40 and ds is still sleeping. I shower and by the time i get upstairs he is waking up.
I dress myself and then him. We go downstairs and I let him watch tv for 10 mins while i pack the car and get his stuff ready. (I pack his bag and bottles and food the night before)
we leave the house together anytime between 725-735 and I drop him off at the babysitter 5 minutes after we leave.
I'm in the office around 8-810.
I think its important to have the bag for the babysitter packed the night before so you can just go!

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
Thank you for this thread. I am a teacher, going back in 2 weeks after being home for 6 months, and I am totally stressing out about how I am going to get out the door by 7:15. Reading your responses gives me some ideas.
So basically, most of you are getting up, getting yourself ready and then dealing with feeding and dressing DC?

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I get up when DS gets up (usually around 5:30). I give him his bottle, and then put him in either one of his seats or his jumperoo in front of Noggin. This usually keeps him occupied for just enough time for me to jump in the shower and get ready for my day. We are out the door by 7AM most of the time. DH leaves around 6AM most days so it's me, myself and I doing the morning routine.
Since DS stays with my IL's, he already has all his stuff there so I never have to pack a bag for him fortunately.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I get up at 5 feed the dog and let him out (usually I check my email while I am waiting).
Jump in the shower and brush my teeth.
DH usually gets up after I am out of the shower and heads in there.
I get ready in another part of the house while he is in the shower. Make up, get dressed, blow dry hair.
At around 6 I am usually ready to go. I wake up DD and change her. Prepare her bottle (now solids and bottle). I will feed her breakfast while DH is getting ready, and he usually gives her her morning bottle.
I leave by 620/630 and DH will get her dressed (I leave out clothes) and he brings her to MIL/my mom before work around 730.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
My schedule is actually rather easy. Get up about 7am to shower. DD is usually awake and playing in her crib. Then I put my makeup on. Then I get DD up to feed her, change her, & dress her. Then DH takes her while I finish getting ready. We are out the door at about 8:10am.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
Another question--on DS's current schedule, he usually wakes up at 5AM for a bottle, then goes back to sleep til 9AM. For work I would want him up at 6 or 7AM. Is it possible to transition him for that hour? Otherwise I would not give him a bottle before leaving in the AM since he wouldn't be ready for one that soon after the 5AM feeding.
I'm also nervous that if I get myself all ready first, he'll spit up all over what I am wearing. Usually now I leave me getting dressed for the absolute last step before going anywhere.

Maybe you can try to wean away that bottle by giving him one later at night?

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I wake up when DS wakes up (usually around 6 or 6:30). I spend about an hour with him - nurse him, wipe his face and hands, change his diaper, play a little, etc. Then I put him in either the crib, swing or bouncer while I pump milk, eat breakfast and get ready for work. I leave the house at 8:45. My mom starts watching DS around 8:30, when I am usually getting dressed. I'm at the office around 9:30.
I don't have to drop DS off anywhere so it saves me a lot of time in the morning.

Re: Working moms of newborns, what's your AM schedule?
I am trying to figure out what I will do with two--but with one NB this is what I did
Took my shower and packed the bottle bag the night before
DS would wake up about 6ish--give him bottle and then get him dressed
Then I would sit him down near me and I would get dressed
Then we left!!
