Working moms support thread
I don't know if anyone has created a thread like this in the past, but as a F/T working mother of an 8-month old, I feel like I need one.
So if you are a "working mom" and need other moms to vent to because you feel like you are being dragged in every freakin' direction, c'mon in and introduce yourself.
BTW, even though I need to work, I also really enjoy what I do for a living, and think that even if I didn't have to work, I still would.

Re: Working moms support thread
The past couple of weeks have killed me. I'm pg with #2 and I'm so exhausted.....we leave the house at 7:30am and most days don't get home until 7:30pm...then it's a little play time, then time for bed....Kaydyn goes to bed around 9:30pm and I'm usually asleep by 10pm.
I have to work but it's just become soooooo exhausting.

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi my name is Anne and I am a working mom not by choice.
I work as a waitress right now and I also tutor and work as a substitute teacher during the school year. I am hoping by next September I will be a FT teacher so I can quit waitressing.
For the most part, working to me, s*u*c*k*s. BUT, I do feel glad that I am able to help provide for my daughter and I make sure my time with her is well spent and treasured. We have a great relationship despite our time apart and it has taken me almost a year to realize that NOTHING can break that bond. She knows I am Mommy which was my biggest fear.
Great idea for a thread.

Re: Working moms support thread
This is a great thread!
Maternity leave just ended and I started back at work on Monday. Making it through the week, but it's tough b/c Mason is only 12 weeks.
While it is hard to leave him so you, like you, I do like my job. It's 40 hours a week or more, which is the tough part... but it's nice to make money and enjoy adult conversation.
Mason is with grandma for now and will start daycare in a few weeks. DH isn't thrilled that I'm working, but we really don't have too much of a choice if we'd like to live comfortably. The fact that I worked at a daycare back in college helps b/c I know the teachers are very caring and I can't wait to see how he progresses there.
Thanks for listening ladies!

hi all! i'm LB, and i am a working mom not by choice.
i love my job most days, but there ar those days when i want to
however i'd give anything to be a SAHM and i know how hard it is to leave your baby
that being said, i do treasure coming to work some days because DS demands so much attention that coming to work is like a mini break where i can come on the computer and go on LIF and FB without worrying he is going to wake up from his nap too soon

Hi my name is LeShelle and I too am a working mom. I have a 5 month son and DH. Most days I rush home to pick DS from daycare. We play, eat, bathe, get pj's on, and nurse all in about 1 1/2 hours. It's tough as I am usually exhausted by the time I see DS and DS is exhausted as well.

Re: Working moms support thread
I am a ft working mom with a 2 1/2 year old and another on the way in 3 weeks
I actually enjoy working and would not have it any other way - well let me say that if I could, I would stay at home for the 1st year and then go back to work but that is not possible financially
I am taking 14 weeks off maternity leave and then it is back to work for me
it IS hard to juggle everything but I make it work

Re: Working moms support thread
I don't know if I count for this thread or not, but...
I have an assistantship for my PhD program, so I teach a course, do research and take 3 courses....
Most of my work I can do from home, but I'm also now taking care of DD who's a month old
Its hard to juggle and this is just the beginning
I guess I should be happy I don't have to leave the house much

Hey all, I'm Michele, and a working mom NOT by choice
I miss my babies so much during the day.....but sometimes, on the weekends, I"m looking forward to Monday when I can drop them off because they are exhausting. Am I terrible? Still, if I had a choice, I'd be home with them. I miss them so much right now that I ache....

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi, I'm Rebecca and a working mom - not by choice. I actually never wanted to be a SAHM until I got pregnant.
DD is 19 months and we've just started TTC... but I'll be going back to work if and when #2 comes along as well. Most of the time I'm okay with it (this year) but some days - like today are just harder to deal with.

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi all,
My name is Bali and I love my job, but if I could be a SAHM, I would leave it in a minute. Everyday I'm here I wish I was with her. We leave the house at 6:30am and return at 5:30pm. I get some quick play time in, then it bath, cereal/bottle, sometimes book and then shes in bed between 6:30 and 7ish . Then its off to the gym, back by a little after 9, shower, hang with DH until 9:45 then he leaves for work, I watch tv of maybe 1/2hr and crash.
Weekends I barley do anything around the house because I want to spend as much time with her as possible.
I play mega millions once in awhile, but still haven't hit yet .

Just put in for tomorrows lotto - $207 Million. But really I don't need that much. A million would be sufficient.

Re: Working moms support thread
I am a working Mom. I would not want to be a full time SAHM...but I do wish I could just work part time, for me, that would be the best of both worlds. I also go to school part time right now too.....it's the hardest thing I have ever done, and leaves me in tears sometimes. But I know in the long run it will mean I can be home more.....doesn't negate the ten tons of guilt I feel. Especially now that DS can speak a little and aske Daddy "Mommy Home?"

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi ladies!
My name is Cathy and I am a full time working mom also. DS is 5 months old. Every friggin day I leave in such a bad mood cause I don't wanna go and rather be here with him. I absolutely HATE it!!! And I actually love my job, it's just if I can be a SAHM I totally would be!!! It's not that bad as far as my schedule goes cause it is pretty flexible....I mean I am usually home by 4:30. So I have time to play with him before I cook dinner and then after til bedtime. But I just wish I can have all day with him.

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi, I have a 5 month old son and struggle balancing work and being a mom. I miss DS all day long. I enjoy my work but my hours are way too long.
I am leaning towards being a SAHM when we have baby #2 in a few years.

Re: Working moms support thread
i am a full time working mom of a dd who is 8 months now. I get to work from home 1 day a week, and like pp noted it's somewhat of a break to come to work but at the same token i wish i was at home with her. She truly is a full time job then some and i love her to pieces. i hate having to leave her but the reward is seeing her face light up at the end of the day when i come to pick her up.

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi!
I am a full-time working mom...I am a teacher. I really do love my job and the kids of course! I also love the faculty that I work with. It's a very special place. However, if I could be a SAHM mom I would be. I absolutely love being home with DD! I think I would consider having my second sooner if I was a SAHM. I think I balance work and home pretty well, but although I multi-task well...I wish I didn't have to.
I am grateful that I am a teacher because of all the time off, but at work, just like home, I always have to be "on". I don't get any breaks!! I barely have time to pee when I'm at work.
Great idea for a thread, by the way!!

Re: Working moms support thread
I'm a FT working mom of a 2 year old. My biggest gripe is that there is just not enough time in the day! I feel like everything suffers. the house is a mess, the yard is a mess, the laundry is piling up, I haven't worked out consistently since before I was pg! I tend to let that stuff slide because we get home around 7pm and I want the time we have awake together to be about us and not the chores.
I love my job but I do wish I could work a few less hours and be able to catch up on...well, anything!

Re: Working moms support thread
Hi everyone. My name is Maria. I work full time from 8am-6:00 pm and I am mom to my 17 month old baby boy.
I love my job. I really, really do. I have been working at this firm for 9 years now and to be honest with you, I can't imagine leaving or being a SAHM. I am just not cut out for that.
I get the best of both worlds - I have my mom taking care of my son during the day, I get to work - make money, enjoy the company of my colleagues - and then go home to my son and be mommy. I do live for the weekends though and I think being a FT working mom I cherish the time I get with my son even more because it's like a special treat.
Of course it sucks some days, yeah there are time I would rather be at the park or the beach with him, but all in all, I am blessed and happy with where I am.

Re: Working moms support thread
Working mom reporting for duty!
I am a working mom by choice. DH & I could afford for one of us to stay home, but we choose to work.
We like the lifestyle our income provides and what we can offer our child/family. We don't live extravagantly, but we save for college, retirement etc. We have a nice home and a few of life's extras.
We also like DD's daycare program and the early education and all the stimulation she is getting.
I treasure my time with Claire and our family time, but I know we are making the right decision for our family. It's hard sometimes, but being a mom is!
If I could change one thing, I'd love to work 6 hours a day, but my position would not allow for that.

Re: Working moms support thread
I work from home. I know I do not have to leave my babies, and I am fortunate with that. However, working from home and having no help means I never get a break. I work when the babies take naps and at night after they go to bed when DH is home. I also work on the weekends when DH can help out. I am exhausted and miss the social aspect of going to an office. However for me to work outside the home, or even to get some childcare does not work out financially for us right now.

I work from home myself 1 or 2 days a week. I actually prefer to be in the office because I get SO much more accomplished.
