Working out while on IUI cycle?
Hi ladies; As many of you know this is our first ever IUI cycle. I am currently on the 21 day of Lupron and 5 day of Bravelle. Going for my first u/bc after stims tomorrow
Lately, I have put on a couple of pounds and would like to lose them. I would also like to be in shape while going trough infertility treatments, for peace of mind and body. It will help in trying to keep my mind of TTC. Plus, if we get lucky and get pregnant, I would like to be in shape or in the process of in order to be in a healthier state to carry the baby. I am thinking about starting to go to the gym. Just basically cardio...nothing heavy for now. Maybe the bike and treadmill...elliptical (maybe); no weights or heavy lifting. (and most definitely no abs work outs)
I will definitely ask my RE tomorrow for advice, but I was wondering what you ladies think. I value your opinion.
Have any of you started working out while taking stims?
Any advice on this is much appreciated

Re: Working out while on IUI cycle?
if you havent had a work out regime i would def def def ask dr.
i know i have asked multiple docs and they say do the normal routine you do.
i still get scared abut lifting heavy wieghts like i do soooo i am back in the gym and trying not to be scared.
if you dont have an excercise program just make sure to tell doc you are going to start one and what do they recommend :)
some drs say just no ab work others say whatever lol

Re: Working out while on IUI cycle?
I definitely agree - i would ask your doctor before you start going to the gym. I workout regularly (alhtough used to be a much bigger runner - and that has definitely been one of the many sacrafices of this IF journey). During my IUI's I worked out only the first few days of stims and then stopped because I have a tendency to create a lot of eggs and hyperstim. Once I had the IUI I did not work out at all.
Good Luck

Re: Working out while on IUI cycle?
I continued working out- slow jog and fast walking 5 to 6 times a week, no problem.

Re: Working out while on IUI cycle?
Like the other girls said, check with your Dr. but I don't think there would be anything wrong with working out as long as you take it easy. I totally relate to gaining weight and wanting to feel good about your body. I am in the same place.

Re: Working out while on IUI cycle?
Thank you for the information ladies
I spoke to the RE today and he said to go ahead as long as it wasn't abs related.
Treadmill....here I come!! LOL! I am just going to run for 30 minutes or so about 3 to 4 times a week to begin with.

Re: Working out while on IUI cycle?
Interesting. When I had my first IUI, they said no heavy lifting that day. So, I asked about going to the gym (as if I go every day)... The nurse (I think with the RE in the room) said, "if you can avoid going today that would probably be good, but after today you are good to go." Their theory seemed to be, "no one stops working out when trying to have a baby naturally." That said, I wasn't on stims so I don't know about that part.
