working with/supervising family members
how would you feel about having a family member, say a cousin or in-law, working with you in your company and possibly having to be their supervisor/manager? One of my family members is a great, hardworking, intelligent person who just lost their job and has a new baby.
my company has allowed me to hire an additional person in my staff. I mentioned it to some family members and a few have expressed interest. (my company is fairly high paying). One of my cousins has been calling me daily to give him a shot but I feel like this is too close to home and I would not be able to be an impartial boss.
what would you do?

hmmm... i've worked with my sister at 2 different jobs and had no problems - we kept it very professional at work. we weren't each other's bosses though. i think that it may get sticky if you'd have to be their supervisor, JMO.

i agree... i think just working at the same company would be fine... but it could get sticky if you are their supervisor. you might have to be doing their performance reviews, etc and that might get hairy.... BUT, just working together could be fine- my parents own a business together and have been working together for over 20 years, so it can work
