worried I am going to lose my job
We got an email today they will be eliminating almost 300 positioins.. we have a meeting on thurs. that is eerily like the one we had 2 years ago when I got laid off the first time (I got rehired by the same company).
I am screwed if I lose my job. I will lose my insurance, my maternity leave, my paycheck, everything. No one will hire me now, I'm over 7 months pregnant. We won't be able to pay for anything.

that's a tough situation to be in-- I have been laid off twice before and I know how bad it sucks.
Try not to stress until you know what your specific situation is. Also, did you get a decent severance package last time?? Even if you do get laid off, you might be taken care of well enough that you don't have to worry.

We just went through this last week at my company and I was stressing out big time since both DH and I work for the same company!

OMG how stressful... first  that the worst case scenario doesn't pan out.
Also, on the positive side, I would think most companies would be HIGHLY reluctant to let go of a pregnant woman, kwim? They'd want to avoid any kind of legal complication and would probably not touch you right now? If it DID happen, I'd think at the very least you'd have leverage to negotiate a GREAT severance package, including PAID benefits, etc for the duration of your pregnancy AND the maternity leave you would have gotten.
I truly hope it doesn't affect you though..

DH just got a similar notification and I'm freaking out too. But as a pp mentioned they would have to be VERY careful if they laid off someone 7 months pregnant and will probably skip you in favor of someone less "sticky" or in the very least give you a very good severence package.

HR has to think twice about laying off a woman who is 7 months pregnant!
If you do get laid off, make sure you try to negotiate full severence PLUS whatever maternity leave you would have received.

I'm in the same exact situation, although at this point, I want them to fire me. My maternity leave is basically nothing, it's regular disability, so at this point if I'm going to get fired, I'll get more with unemployment and more time than working...
Its awful the stress that I do feel though is almost unbearable!!!!

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I am just jumping the gun, I work for a huge corporation, so 300 positions is only like 1% of the entire work force, but it is just so similar to what happened the last time.
Unfortunately, if it does happen, I won't get severance because I am considered a "project" employee.
We are in the middle of a big project right now, so I am keeping my fingers crossed they are looking to get rid of more executive/higher paying jobs.
I'll keep you all posted on what happens. Thanks for all the prayers.
