Would you be ticked off??????

Here is my situation:

I have a girlfriend that I met in X-ray School a few yrs ago and we were very close while in school for the 2 yrs. We still remained friends after graduation, ya know saw each other here and there, called each other to catch up on things, she came to my wedding, blah blah... Fast forward to my pregnancy...we were still good friends thruout the pregnancy. During the 9 month period she got engaged. YAY! Sent her a congrats card, bought her a nice little engagement gift...blah blah. So of course along comes my baby shower and I of course invite her. She RSVP's the day after the response date and says "Yes" she will be there. Fine. The day of the shower, she doesnt show up. I was annoyed, but figured maybe something happened God forbid.

A week goes by, and she finally calls my cell phone and leaves a message saying, "Hi Noreen, I'm sooooooooo sorry I didnt come to your baby shower, please dont be mad at me, I got all dressed and ready to come, and then....... I JUST DIDN'T!" ??????? And then says, "But I have preeeesents for you!! What the F????????? LIke i care about presents??

So i figure whatever, I'm not gonna make a big deal out of it, so i called her back, she pleaded for forgiveness and I was like, "It's okay.. dont worry about it" .. Chat Icon

So a few more weeks goes by, and it's like the beginning of December, and she calls me at work and we are chatting about things, and she says, "I gotta stop by one day and give you your presents from the shower, do you know what I got you?" I"m like, "No, how would i know that?"... so she says, "well i'm gonna tell you.. its the BOUNCY SEAT!! "

So i said, oh thank you!, yeah just let me know what day you wanna get together and we'll have dinner or something before the baby is born. She never got back to me.

ok... so Jacob is born, and she called once a few days after he was born to see how he was doing. Havent heard from her since or seen her. And so last week I got an invitation in the mail for her BRIDAL SHOWER????? ummmmm, is she kidding me?????????

I swear i'm tempted to RSVP yes, and then not show up.. Am I completely nuts to think this girl has huge ones?? Or am I overreacting???? Can people really be that clueless??????????????? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Would you be ticked off??????

Wow, you have every right to be ticked off! I hate people that always SAY that you need to see eachother and then avoid making/going through with the actual plans. I had a friend that was supposed to be my MOH for my wedding and e-mailed me the week of to back out, but she'd "bring me my gift at another time". Ummm....sorry, but my friend being at my wedding is a bit more important than a gift... Needless to say, we don't talk much any more. Same thing though. I always get the "we need to hang out" from her. At this point, I know she's just saying it for the sake of saying it. If she were to ever invite me to a bridal shower, I'd rip the invitation into little pieces and mail it back to her. Gosh, I guess I'm a little bitter Chat Icon

I would be mad and would not go to her bridal shower. Sounds like she is very self absorbed and that's the last kind of friend you need right now.

Please do not go to her bridal shower. I would not even get her a gift--I would not call her anymore. I bet you don't even need the bouncy seat anymore!!!Chat Icon

I would be more annoyed that I'm not getting a bouncy seat because I wouldn't want to buy something she already got me.

I would say it all depends on whether you want to lose or keep the friend. If you're not interested in keeping her, then opt out - but do it the right way. RSVP no & leave it at that.

I was kinda annoyed about the bouncy seat, but my best friend wound up buying me one right before jacob was born cause she knew i would need one. And yes, he already grew out of it. I agree, i'm just gonna rsvp no, and leave it at that... Chat Icon

Re: Would you be ticked off??????

I wouldn't go, its looks like she really isn't into your friendship. I had a friend who did the same thing to me, we were so close and would hang out all the time, and she was so excited for me when I got pregnant and we always stayed in touch, just didn't hang out as much since I was preggo and couldn't have the same life style like I use to. Anyway I invited her to my baby shower and she rsvp'd yes. Then like a few days before my shower she e-mails me and tells me her dad got her tickets to some show in Atlantic city and cant go to my shower....I was sooooo p issed off!!Chat Icon I never heard from her again.......just goes to show you! Still don't know what happened.

I definetly wouldn't go - I probably wouldn't even respond to it. But thats just me - I can be very vindictive that way.

Sounds like she is just really self-absorbed right now with wedding stuff and doesnt even realize what a beotch of a friend she has been to you.
