Would you buy a floor model crib?
For those of you who have seen my bellini posts you know the torture i have been going through with them...so i am finally returning the furniture since three weeks later it still smells of varnish and i can't use the room.
So anyway, to get a crib by next week it seems a floor model will be the only way most likely. sukons has a pali floor model crib that looks like it is in great condition - should i be worried about using a floor model crib at all? Thanks in advance!

Re: Would you buy a floor model crib?
Personally, I wouldn't buy a floor model. A lot of people have used it, touched it, etc...I know that at BRU, I was shocked at the condition of a lot of the bedding sets in the cribs, like kids peed on them or people spilled in them, which probably was on the cribs too.
Are you due soon? If so, do you plan to keep the baby in your room first, in a bassinet? We kept DD in our room for the first 3 months, she didn't go in her crib until then...could buy you more time!

Unfortunately, he is already here! He is almost 4 mos! We didn't have the furniture delivered until he was 3 mos b/c we moved from an apt to a house at that point. He has been in a bassinett in our room since he was born. I've had the furniture now for weeks and it is still unusable :( :( That is why we are so desperate!

I worked at a baby store and can say that when I have kids, I would never ever buy a floor sample of furniture.

Re: Would you buy a floor model crib?
yeah, i would not buy a floor model for the crib. especially people are told to test the crib for stability. alot of people shake or bang on it.
not sure how you feel about BRU but if they have it in their store, you can take home the same day OR if they have it at their warehouse, they usually arrive within 2 weeks.

Re: Would you buy a floor model crib?
honestly, no. however if you need a crib right away, check out BBB or BRU. The crib i wanted was at BRU and when we decided to buiy it, i called ahead and they happen to have it in the day we went. I even went into the back of the store so that i could pick out which box was not damaged looking and they even opened the box for me and my DH so we could make sure nothing was damaged or scratched, etc

Re: Would you buy a floor model crib?
Nope and I am surprised that they would even sell a floor model crib. I know that Target won't sell a floor model anything due to liability issues if it ends up faulty. Too much abuse goes on with floor models.

I did. 3 kids later it's still going strong. I saved about $200 or $250 dollars too.
