Would you buy a gift?
I am already pretty sure I am not going to but I am wondering what others would do.....
Tomorrow is my friends 30th bday celebration. She invited me and 8 other people for a wine tour on LI. We are taking the LIRR and getting a limo to take us to the vineyards. This is costing $98/pp.
I bought her a card. Do I have to buy her a gift too? We have been friends for a little over a year, we work together and have gone out socially occasionally after work.
What would you do?

Re: Would you buy a gift?
did you ask the other people what they're doing? Maybe you can all chip in for something?

Re: Would you buy a gift?
hmm... i think id maybe get something? a gift card for maybe 25 bucks is always nice.. or something "wine related" a subscription to a wine magazine---u could always buy her a bottle of wine when u go to the vineyards

Re: Would you buy a gift?
How about a bottle of wine? Or a box of chocolates.. something relatively small but a nice gesture

I would buy her a bottle of wine that she enjoyed at the tasting. Sounds like a fun day!

If this is a friend/acquantaince you have known a year and she expects:
a) $98 pp b) train fare c) your entire day!!
then the card is sufficient

Re: Would you buy a gift?
Since it is someone I am not that close to, I probably wouldn't, or I would get a small token.

Re: Would you buy a gift?
UGH now the girl that sits next to me isnt going so we all have to pay another $15 each. Oh well. I will see how cheap the bottles are that she likes - MAYBE I will buy her one.

Re: Would you buy a gift?
I think spending the day (and the money it will cost for the day) is more than generous.
If anything, (and totally not required), I would buy an "Over the Hill" pin or hat or something funny like that (or something for the limo like noise makers or confetti - as you drink these things will come in handy). Or you could always bring a snack for the limo like salsa/chips.

You could put a few lottery scratch off tickets in the card.

Re: Would you buy a gift?
A gift would be a nice addition, but it really seems like a lot of cash just to get there.
That's Mohegan money (if you know what I mean)
