Would you buy a house from your friend?
Meaning your friend's house..that they are selling? Do you think that's a bad idea generally?

Would you buy a house from your friend?
It would depend on the house. Out of our 2 best friends, we would buy one and not the other. Simply because one is more our style than the other. But the houses are well-maintained, in areas we like and have no issues other than cosmetic upgrading.

Would you buy a house from your friend?
Me personally - no. If anything went wrong I would always wonder in the back of my mind if they knew it was going. Also, if and when I make changes to the home, I would always feel that they are judging me. For me it would be awkward.

Re: Would you buy a house from your friend?
I know someone who did it and it worked out fine, but I don't think they were really good friends to begin with.
I would not. I've heard too many horror stores about doing business with friends or family, and we've had some bad experiences of our own. Not worth losing a friend over hard feelings.

Re: Would you buy a house from your friend?
I personally wouldn't. I think you could easily lose a friend over it.
Someone at work was trying to buy her friend's house. The house didn't appraise and then a whole mess ensued.

I could definitely see it getting messy. And buying a house is SUCH an emotional process as it is that adding in the friend factor if something were to go wrong would just fuel the fire. I didn't even think of the cons of buying from a friend, but I'd probably REALLY rethink it now!

Would you buy a house from your friend?
I would as long as the terms and price were fair. And I would treat it the same way I would treat any other home purchase..I would get an inspection, asks questions, etc.
I would not lend a friend money though.

Would you buy a house from your friend?
Absolutely not, unless they were an acquaintance or a frenemy. Not even if it were my dream home and I was getting a great deal. There is just too much that can turn ugly and emotional quickly.

Business & Pleasure never mix well. No house is ever perfect, so things are going to happen that you will need to fix, and it can make the relationship awkward if you ask them about these things or always wonder if they knew.

Re: Would you buy a house from your friend?
NOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can't even begin to count the number of times I've cursed all previous owners of our house! I'd hate to have those feelings towards a friend!

I agree. I wouldn't personally.
Even just renting I've seen many problems occur between friends.

Personally, I would not. I agree with the ladies who said you never mix business and friendship.

Re: Would you buy a house from your friend?
If I loved the house I would consider it. Of course I would have an inspection done and do all the things I would do if I was buying a house from a stranger but if I loved the house and it was in my price range why not? I mean if down the line the boiler goes or there is some problem with the house that wasn't found at inspection I would assume my friends didn't know and honestly thats the risk you run when buying any house .
