No way - most games are violent in one way or another. They need to be creative and imaginative at that age - not sitting like a lump in front of the TV

Yes I would. And I think it is fine as long as it is monitored.

No I wouldnt. At that age I would hope that my 5 year old is not a tv/game junkie becasue soon enough that will be all he wants to do. I think board games are more appropriate at that age.

My boss(who is a Dr) bought Wii for her 4.5 yr old son. She says he loves playing the sport games and it keeps him active indoors.

Re: Would you buy any of these games for a 5 year old??
I'm planning on buying a Wii for DS at Christmas. He'll be 4.5 by then. He won't be buying his own games, of course, so I'll have control over which games he gets. He'll have to earn "points" to play the system (chores, etc). I think with moderation and supervision, it can help their hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, etc. We just have to make sure we stay on the correct side of the fine line between being a fun activity, and an obsession...

Re: Would you buy any of these games for a 5 year old??
well my 5 year old has all of them by default...my oldest has them.. honestly, he is just starting to get the hang of the wii...it's hard to play. he mostly plays the gamecube. and not all the games are violent. he plays spongebob, dora the explorer, fairly odd parents and mario bros. on the wii he only plays wii sports...bowling, fishing, baseball ect.

Re: Would you buy any of these games for a 5 year old??
No I wouldn't. I think the games are a little to advanced for a 5 year old.
My 5 year old son has a Disney Plug-N-Play, V-smile, and a Leapster. Besides the Plug n play, all the games are educational.
I love the Leapster because he can bring it out with him for long car or shopping trips. Educational and fun...I love it.
