Would you buy furniture from a store that was "Going out of Business"?
As you all know Levitz is going out of business with everything 20-50% off. DH and I are considering going to look at what deals they have. We bought our leather couch from there and could use a new bedroom set. Would you buy?

Only if they had an item in stock and I could either take it with me or have it delivered within a couple of days.
I'd also ONLY put it on the credit card that way if anything happened I could dispute the charge.

Can they still offer a warranty? Warranties are usually through an outside company that should still be able to help you if something goes wrong.
I didnt know they were going out of business! I bought my furniture there a year ago!

Absolutely. There is very little a furniture store can do for you after the purchase anyway. Get in on the deals!

We did. We bought our DR set from Country Manor, and it's made by a nationwide co, so if we have problems in the future, we'll contact them,

wait a minute--i thought levitz just filed for chapter 11---bankruptcy--this is the 3rd time its happened--that doesn't necessarily mean they are going out of business. just means they have filed to protect themselves from creditors they owe from.....they've gotten out of it before!

Re: Would you buy furniture from a store that was "Going out of Business"?
WOW. We just bought our living room leather set and entire bedroom set from them in September before our wedding.
The warranties are with an outside company so that's a good thing, but kinda ***** huh.
Great that you can get things 50% off though! Kinda wish we had waited til now (since we spent thousandddds on furniture!)

I would advise you not to buy the warranty. As of friday, which was my last day at Levitz, there was talk of them not honoring any warrantys purchased after the beginning of Nov.

No. I would be too worried about warranty unless it's a super deal.

Re: Would you buy furniture from a store that was "Going out of Business"?
We picked up our bookcases with sliding doors on Friday. We got 30% off the floor model and I was happy.
I would do it if you can pick it up right away.

Re: Would you buy furniture from a store that was "Going out of Business"?
DH and I just bought our couch from them within the last two months. We stopped in this past weekend and were a little upset at their prices. Seemed to us like they may have jacked up their "original" price and then dropped their prices.
I definitely would have bought but pricing didnt seem that reasonable.

It'd have to be an unbeatable deal for me to do that. I would be afraid that something would go wrong and there'd be no one to call.

Re: Would you buy furniture from a store that was "Going out of Business"?
We bought our living room set from a place that was going out of business. We got a very good deal and the furniture was delivered the following weekend. We had no problems with the furniture or delivery.
