Would you feel bad if a co-worker gave you brand new but washed clothing?

A co-worker just had a baby boy. I would like to buy him a gift. However, I have tons of pretty much new baby boy items. I made the mistake of washing everything. We have a lot of clothes that DS never wore and is brand new, except we washed them. I was thinking of giving the clothes to my co-worker but don't want to offend someone.

Would you be offended if someone gave you a bag of pretty much new clothing?

I should add that it is mostly the nicer clothing. DS lived in snap shirts and halo sleep sacks for the first 3 months of life. I hated putting shirts over his head so we rarely used onesies and anything that went over. So all his fancier 0-3m clothing was never used.

This is a tough one.

Although the GESTURE is amazing, I would say no because if she needs to exchange sizes later, they won't have tags on them.

I would only be offended if it were given as a "gift". I got a lot of hand me downs and I was so thankful for them. But, none of them were wrapped up and given as a gift.

I wasn't thinking of wrapping it.

I will just buy a gift. I'm thinking it isn't worth the possibility of offending someone.

I think before I actually had DS, I would probably be offended but now that he is here, I would love if someone would give me a bag full of nice clothing that was never worn.

same here. I think it would be weird to pass off washed clothing (even if it is brand new) as a gift.

honestly, I love hand me downs. I would just throw it out there as a suggestion. Most people won't get offended by the gesture.

I would give a small gift. (A $7.99 outfit from TJ Max or something) and a bag of clothing.

I know I would've appreciated it as the reciever. But I would also give a new gift as a gift. Chat Icon

I think that's a great idea. My neighbor gave me a huge bag filled with clothes - it was awesome! I hardly had to buy any clothes for DS in the 6-9 month range!

I would offer the clothing separately, but not as a gift. I would probably buy a small gift, unless you are pretty good friends with the person.

same here. Offer it but don't try give it as a gift.
One of my coworkers - who is also a good friend - gave me her sons entire wardrobe from his first 2 years for my son. Her son was born the same month as mine but 2 years earlier, so everything was perfect season. I really appreciated it!

Same here. Personally, I love hand me downs, but not everyone is a fan. I think you'd be able to tell they weren't off the rack new.

I completely agree. I have given DS's brand new never worn with tags on clothing as a gift. It was stuff I purchased but never got an opportunity to have him wear and I lost the receipt. I gave it to someone with a new baby who admired it and then I gave her all of the boy baby clothing DS no longer fit into. She was extremely happy with it, but I was completely up front about the entire situation.

Yup. I took a lot of clothing from people that I knew had never been worn and I was very grateful for it. It was never presented as a gift though.

I look forward to giving baby clothes away once I am dont having children. It is a very good deed.

I'd buy her something nice then consign all my *used* stuff.

I wouldn't give it as a gift, but I would totally offer them.
