Would you give a bag from Marshalls / TJ Maxx as a gift?

If you got a nice Coach / DB / Michael Kors bag from Marshalls / TJMaxx, would you give it to someone as a gift?

The problem is that I don't think these stores do gift receipts.

I am not comfortable with handing the person the actual receipt... because they will know I got it on sale / discount, etc.

Would you think a person was cheap if they got you a coach bag from Marshalls as opposed to going to Coach for it?

Thoughts / Opinions?

I would give it as a gift - it's not what you pay, it's the thought that counts.
Personally, I LOVE hearing about people getting great deals!

would totally give it as a gift....I think these stores might give gift receipts if asked.

If not, if you are close enough to the person you are giving it to, you could return it for them and get a gift card instead to the store

I think its a great gift and you do not have to give them a gift recipt. If they want to return it, the store will give them credit

I would just give it to them and say "sorry, i didn't get a gift receipt, so if you really don't like it then i'll keep it for myself and buy you another gift."

maybe that's tacky, but i wouldn't want them to know i got it at marshalls or tj maxx...

Or if they need to return they can ask you for the receipt.

People lets not forget the days before gift receipts.

yes and i have,

you can cut the price off the tag leaving the bar code

or

you can neatly remove the tag from the platic string and put the tag in the inside pocket with the price cut off.

the only person I would ever buy a purse for is my Mom, I know her taste like the back of my hand.

what if you didnt give a gift recepit?

i keep all gifts - even if i dont like them. so i wouldnt need a gift recepit.

but if it was nice enough for YOU to think it was nice for a gift - odds are the person you are giving it to will as well.

I would...
just don't give a receipt, but leave the tag on with the price cut off - unless you want to hide where it is from, then rip the tag off.

I would give it as a gift, and would also be glad to get it as a gift. I would not think that the person giving it is cheap, b/c I know my friends and family can't afford things like that, and I would not expect such extravagant gifts from them. I also wouldn't be embarrassed for them to see it was from Marshalls or TJMaxx...they would probably be glad that I got such a good deal!

don't forget, they will know its not from the actual store or a dept store, because it doesn't come with a box and the usual wrappings.
