I think in a 140 year old house I would be much more concerned with the condition of pluming and building structure than with ghosts.

If the house is in great condition, I think it would be fun because old houses have so much character!

Re: Would you live in a 140 year old house???

depends on the condition of it...
our friends have the neatest house-- its over 100 years old, farm house... but the kitchen and bathroom had been completely redone by the old owners and an additon had been added- including a new dining room and master bathroom.
the house is amazing because it has the charm and character of an old house, but everything is in great shape and updated.

I would as long as it doesn't look like it's 140 years old.

If all the plumbing, electric, heat, etc. was updated then definitely. Old houses have so much character, love 'em!

Why not? My house is almost 100 years old and it doesn't bother me in the least!

not because of hauntings...my aunt is in an 1840 house and they totally restored it and it's gorgeous, but they have the original wood plank floors. When my youngest was a baby, I tried to rock him in my arms and I felt like I was shaking the entire house

upkeep would worry me most.

My sorority house was 200+ years old when I lived there...and it was haunted but I would have lived there the rest of my life if I could! It was a FANTASTIC old house.

I would live in a house that old and I would be afraid it was hauntedChat Icon However, knowing what I know about ghosts, anywhere can be haunted, even if you build a house on a piece of land that never had a house on one before.

Re: Would you live in a 140 year old house???

yes and I wouldn't care about it being haunted.

Old houses have the most character.

Check the heating, plumbing and electric and make sure it's insulated.

They don't build new homes like older homes. Older homes were built to last.

Mine is 80 years old and it's the character I love the most.

My Mom's house is over 100 years old and I still find hidden nooks and crannies till this day. I love old houses, but the upkeep can be Chat Icon .

Re: Would you live in a 140 year old house???

I grew up in a house that is over 100 years old, and now DH and I own a house that is about 80 or 90 years old. I am a big baby when it comes to anything supernatural, but I never felt like either home was haunted. The main things to worry about with older homes is upkeep, like previous posters said.
