would you plan a trip?
DH is turning 30 on July 31 and I'm trying to come up with something great for his b-day. I'm throwing around party ideas, but now I'm thinking he may appreciate a great trip more. Now here's the problem, we've been TTc for 4 months and so far nothing. Even if I got preggers this month, I'd only be about 6 months or so, which would be fine for travelling. Now the problem comes in, what if I don't get preggers until later and I'm still in the first tri-mester. I guess I would have to cancel the trip and potentially be out a lot of money. What would you do?

why would you have to cancel the trip if you are in your first trimester?

Re: would you plan a trip?
I've heard you're not supposed to fly during your first tri-mester because you run the risk of miscarriage.

plan the trip. I've learned from this to not stop living at all. If you are preggo at that time then deal with it then

I've never heard about not flying in the first trimester. If you are concerned about losing money, you can probably purchase insurance.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.. Don't let TTC stop you from living your life!!
When I found out I was PG, we had already planned a trip out west... had it not been for my M/C I would have definitely went. I would have just been at the 11 week mark and at the time my doctor told me it was perfect safe to fly as long as I felt up to it.... she told me that flying throughout pregnancy is safe, but usually the recommend towards the end of the THIRD trimester to cut back actually..
I'd say go for it, Nicole - plan that trip!! And continued baby dust!!

Re: would you plan a trip?
I went to Jamaica when I was 11 weeks. Dr said to go and enjoy, it might be the last vacation we would be on before the baby...

Re: would you plan a trip?
I think every dr gives different advice about traveling while prego but mine said 1st and 2nd trimesters were fine and to avoid it 3rd tri...I get so confused with all of the different things I hear!

As hard as it may be, absolutely do not avoid doing things with the thought you may be pregnant at the time. Chances are you will be, but you also may not and you cannot put your life on hold for a 'what if" sitation.

Re: would you plan a trip?
Thanks ladies, that was pretty much what I was thinking. I'm going to talk to DH and see where he wants to go. I know we would both like to go to Europe before babies.
