Would you take a rd trip (4-5 hours) when you're 37-38 weeks pregnant?
I'm thinking this may be a bad idea.

not a chance in hell
i can't even sleep in bed at night for 2 hours, let alone sit in a car for that long!

Re: Would you take a rd trip (4-5 hours) when you're 37-38 weeks pregnant?
My doc didn't want me more than 45 minutes from the hospital after 36 weeks. Christmas was a HUGE issue because the inlaws are 1 h 45 m away. We didn't go, and I'm glad. I was miserable that day and bleeding from my first internal exam.
So, no.

True. I went to the Riverhead aquarium from Manhattan last weekend and it was MISERABLE. I forgot about that.

No way. Too far from the hospital, and I would be way too uncomfortable.

Re: Would you take a rd trip (4-5 hours) when you're 37-38 weeks pregnant?
personally I wouldn't.... 2 hours away would be a big MAYbe... and dependent upon the reason for the road trip.
but 4-5 hours no.... and for the sole reason IF I were to go into labor - I would want to get back (IF possible) to my doctor and hospital - and don't think contracting in the car would be doable for that length of time....
15 minutes in the middle of the night, no traffic, and no laws abided was LONG ENOUGH for me....

I wouldn't unless it was something HUGELY important (a close friend/family member's funeral, etc.).

thats just too far to go that late in the game i think - i would only do it if it were super super super important, my doctor okay'd it and i knew of every hospital that we could go to along the entire drive if necessary

Re: Would you take a rd trip (4-5 hours) when you're 37-38 weeks pregnant?
Nope - I was supposed to go on a 5+ hour drive in week 32 and I backed out - best idea ever I can barely sit at my desk for 30 min straight without being uncomfy forget the car Plus the thought of anything happening and needing to be close to the hospital would make me stay

Nope, I hope this baby makes his/her appearance around that time (wishful thinking), so I'd like to be pretty close to home.

I opted not to do a similar road trip when I was 30 weeks. Definitely wouldn't do it at 37/38 weeks!!

Re: Would you take a rd trip (4-5 hours) when you're 37-38 weeks pregnant?
I went to Foxwoods just short of 37 weeks it was just for the day and it was something dh and I wanted to do before the baby came. My water broke waiting for the car as we were leaving. Needless to say we took the ferry and made it to the hospital 5 hrs after my water broke and my little dd arrived 12 hrs later. On the 2nd time around I will not o anywhere after 35 weeks

I guess I hadn't really taken this into consideration... DH and I are planning to go away for the weekend about 3 hours away at 36 weeks. I think as long as the dr says its ok, I'm gonna go.

I probably would not, more for comfort reasons, sitting for that long in a car would make me crazy.
