I agree with all of you who said it should be reported....I just am not sure if I'm ready to do that. I had a similar type of situation at one of my previous jobs where I wanted to report the director to the board, but because the agency was (and is currently) so small, I was afraid of any repercussions. Not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to help you understand how you could be seen as complacent and therefore held to some degree of wrong doing for NOT reporting this. Your job should have a policy to protect "whistler blowers" and if not, consult an employment attorney. Maybe go through HR and express your concern over repercussions. Just from my own experience, anonymous letters do not usually hold much weight as they are often though to be from former, jilted employees looking to start problems. GL in your decision.

you mean "complicit" and this is not necessarily true.

but you could have whistleblower protection. you could file a complaint under seal and no one save your attorney would know it was you.

while it IS against the law to fire a whistleblower, it is understood that things like this put people in a bad position.

what a horribly ugly thing to do.

depending on your non profit, this could be a federal case. look in to the jursidiction. Chat Icon

I think it's wrong. Say they really are in need. Yah, they have jobs but no one knows someones situation, their spouse could have been laid off and now are behind in their bills and struggling, sick child and have a large amount of medical bills and are drowning in debt, etc etc... BUT if this is the case, if they really do need the food then they should have to go through the same procedures as everyone else in order to receive it in order to be fair then they should get the same number and type of items that others would get, nothing more or less just because they work there.
